yes because I don't think there is a 325a package with game access.

Arbiter package is what you (or Elmo) are looking for. 325a with game access.

Yup. That's why it's $15 more than the Bounty Hunter package.

Yes, that's probably the thing to do.

So... 31 and 32 million. I guess the limited ships are paying off.

I always had the vision of people out there with their serenity, trying to make it, but it looks like we're gonna start the game with a bunch of daddy warbucks with a stable of ships to blow up. Whee!

Definitely a smart move re-releasing those ships with more people aware and invested in the game.

Some of us plan to play that way, and long after the pledge season is just a memory, that's the way new people will come to the game, but See the cool thing about SC is you can play the way you want and you aren't really going to be diminished by the play style of others too terribly.

Oh, I know. I just kind of want a jack of all trades ship, instead of this "what kind of ship next? Mining? courier?" "Ok, so I'm going to do 2 runs in this ship, then fly back to the hangar and get my mining ship, then mine for a while, then go back to the hangar and get my bathroom ship, and go to the bathroom, then I'm going to go back to the hangar, and get my mcdonalds ship to get something to eat...." Hopefully using one ship for most things won't be too crippled by the specialization. :)

If it's a jack of all trades ship, it will probably be mediocre at everything lest it render all the other ships irrelevant. EVE is like that too; you will not be out fighting in a mining ship (some troll fits notwithstanding).

Sorry guys had a stomach bug yesterday...so what do you mean by melt my 300i?
Like where do I go and click and stuff - I take it I have to somewhow return my 300i and then have the cash value credited to me and then use that plus a little more for the 325a?

Little woozy still and head is foggy - havent had solid food in a while measured in days.

In the My Hanger view, if you expand your selection there's a pair of buttons. "Exchange for Store Credit" and "Gift". If you exchange for credit, the item is removed and the $ put in your billing account. Then go purchase the upgraded item but be sure to click the "Apply credit" button in the payment screen.

Thank goodness, the smuggling ship finally won. I'm pleasantly surprised they didn't choose to make it the Drake ship.

32 Million Letter from the Chairman wrote:
To be perfectly honest, I didn’t expect to have to write another letter so quickly. Damn you all for being the best, most supportive community in gaming! Hopefully you can forgive me for waiting until after the livestream for this post! The alien ships are a hit; we can’t wait to share more as they come together. Flying a Xi’An scout or a Banu merchantman will be a different experience than their human counterparts, and we’re dedicated to making it worthwhile. At the $32 million level, you’ve unlocked the Aegis Surveyor, a ship dedicated to salvage that also offers some emergent gameplay opportunities:

Aegis Surveyor – The Surveyor, from noted military contractor Aegis, is an industrial-quality salvage ship. Equipped with a reinforced cargo bay, a long-range jump drive and launch pods for unmanned drones, the Surveyor is an ideal ship for taking advantage of deep space wrecks. Tractor beams, floodlights, scanner options and docking ports round out the tool chest on this capable, utilitarian spacecraft.
The winner of the $34 million ship role poll, in a photo finish, is smuggling! There are two typical paths for smuggling ships: fast, armored ships adapted to run blockades and escape the authorities when necessary and totally innocuous ships that keep their cargo hidden from prying scanners. Several of our existing ships, including the Banu Merchantman, are well-equipped for the former job and so we’ve going for the latter.

MISC Hull C (Discreet) – Scaling from small “box trucks” to massive supertankers, the MISC range of cargo hulls (A-D) are the standard goods transporter in human space. Extremely configurable, MISC Hulls can be adapted for most any type of transport job: from standard bulk shipping on the patrolled spacelanes to armored cargo hauling on the frontier. While these pre-configured hulls are primarily used for legitimate purposes, the MISC Hull Cs have recently become the favorite for criminals who modify the ship with advanced sensor shadow technology, quick-decompress holds and a variety of hidden compartments without modifying the ship’s body so it will appear to onlookers as standard everyday transports.
Thank you for your incredible support; I hope you enjoyed the chance to interact with the team in today’s livestream. And don’t forget to vote: next up is the last phase of the fan ship role selection poll. By the process of elimination, you can expect to be choosing a new ship from Drake Interplanetary, maker of the Cutlass and Caterpillar. Choose wisely!

— Chris Roberts

My graphics card isn't enough for the hanger module. Found out today. Guess I gotta find a direct x 11.0 card. Good bye Radeon 4300

WingMan's Hangar 48 is pretty chock full of awesomeness.

I was just telling Ranelagh it features a new (semi-regular) segment "10 with the Chairman" in which Chris sits down in his office with just the camera and answers 10 subscriber-submitted questions in a moderate amount of detail. Today's 10wC (I'm coining that abbreviation, lol) included questions about the PVP slider (resulting in a little clarification over some long-standing and widespread confusion on the instancing system), the way rearming and refueling will work in the initial stages of the dogfighting module, a look into pitch/yaw vs. pitch/roll in Star Citizen, talk about system requirements, and others.

In addition, we got a studio update from Erin Roberts, which was mostly fluff about settling in and expanding the team, but nabbed a few glimpses of what are likely the first shots of new capital ships in silhouette on a screen behind his shoulder. 2-3 non-Idris cap ships were up there alongside the Bengal, and the biggest of them looked to be about 2/3s the Bengal's length. Destroyers and cruisers?

Nothing really stood out in my mind about Forum Feedback, but Ben did let it slip that we should see an Organization-focused CommLink today, and Eric confirmed that we'll have a website update today that will allow for applying non-F7A ship upgrades to our ships so they get converted in our hangar. We'll also see a hangar patch next week, and a second hopefully before Christmas. Conventional wisdom suggests that one of these will be the test firing range, and the other *might* be the Cutlass (and asteroid hangar?).

Finally, the staff interview today was the Art Outsourcing Coordinator, who talked about landing the guys who did Ryse's facial animations to work on Squadron 42 and Star Citizen. So that should be pretty awesome.

The 10wC (actually it's 10 for the chairman, but 10FtC looks just as cool) on the PVP slider should be required viewing in order to post on the RSI Forums. Three words stuck out to me that Chris kept repeating that the community needs to get in their collective head: If you Want. The slider is about choice not about catering to "carebears" or "Griefers" Being a take it like a man if it comes, but not having the heart to be out looking to ruin someones day, I'll probably leave mine on default.

If you "never" want to PVP your options may be limited. I'd imagine if you want to run solely run cargo between planets in the Terra system, your odds of encountering pirates (PC or otherwise) is virtually nil, and if you did you'd have UEE security presence to back you up. If you want to get out and see the galaxy, your chances increase. At the far end of the spectrum there are "no holds barred" systems where pvp will be unavoidable. However the 10FTC also mentioned that the idea that all AIs are worse pilots than all PCs is incorrect. Personally I like the idea that you really can't tell if someone is PC or NPC until its "too late"

This is pretty much where I fall, or gravitate towards falling so long as I've got a couple folks to run with.

My time in Pirates of the Burning Sea really helped me break down the persistent play with PvP and risked gear/inventory consequences. Handled properly, it's really about mitigating risk and knowing what you can and can't afford to lose, and adjusting your play accordingly. If you learn to play within those guidelines, and withdraw when you're outmatched, it's actually a lot of fun to get that adrenaline pumping in a way that AI, no matter how "difficult" never can. I never feel like I'm being hunted by NPCs, even when they're actually pursuing me and powerful enough that they're dangerous. But other people makes it different, somehow, and adds a layer of contested mental fortitude that you just.. feel.. coming through the filter of the game. It's your will against theirs, your ability to execute a plan better than they or play patiently waiting for them to slip up to break a stalemate, and trying your damnedest not to be the one to make the slip up first. With an NPC, it's only ever about playing against their weaknesses or predictability until you can win or escape.

Certainly. There is something heart racing about seeing that red name, especially when you have friends to back you up, and you get the feeling that maybe, this time, you can put one over on him for once. However I can't be that red whose gonna corp por some miner into oblivion, take his iron ore and kill his mule just cause he stepped over the protection line. I don't have the heart.

Yeah, well put. In Pirates of the Burning Sea, I didn't mind going after folks "in the red circle" as a group, because I played a national -- if there was a red circle, it's because people were working meta-objectives to put a port in contention, so I was attacking or defending the port for the purposes of conquest. Anybody similarly in the red was doing the same or trying to profit off elevated prices via trade at a risky time. Either way, in that instance, it's quite consensual and not personal or "for the lulz." That's straight-up competition between two folks playing the game. I want to sink you to either put the port further into the red to enable my nation's attack on the port for conquest points, or I want to quell the conflict by sinking the dissidents and pirates to keep the port safe from attack.

That's why I like the notion of running escorts in Star Citizen. Operating as a primarily defensive role, but putting myself into dangerous routes (the ones that need defending) means that I can get my combat in, but by only engaging aggressors, I don't have to worry about whether I'm ruining some poor guy's day. :)

Exactly. or rather, if you do ruin some guys day, its because he came looking to ruin your client's first. I'm certainly looking forward to doing this kind of pvp when I'm "ready."

Moving on, I was sitting on a plane several times last week watching the wings move and thinking to myself, I really wish dog fight was ready.

I'm right in line with you guys regarding PvP. Years ago when the systems were much more open and some jackass fool could corpse camp you all day until you logged off, just because they had nothing better to do, I decided that I didn't like PvP unless it was something very strict (like Team Fortress 2, etc). However, in games that implement systems like Star Citizen to prevent this kind of thing, I'm more open to playing with randoms. It just always sucks to have someone with nothing better to do go out of their way to ruin your day.
