Outrageously overpriced environmentally safe Albuterol inhalers, Phenergan/Codeine cough syrup, Ricola throat drops, and Mom's Fudge!

Merry Christmas 2009, everybody!

ROFL, thanks Kirra! And thanks Aethien and darkseige. I'm actually back at work now, but this crap seems to have kicked my normally very very mild asthma (it's never needed medication before) into high gear. Breathing just itches.

Also, **** the HFA bullshit.

Was it *really* that much of a problem that required a formulation change to something less effective and more expensive?

Seriously? That change and the "must keep sudafed under lock, key, guard dog and laser retina scan" have done nothing but piss me off.

Yeah, this made me irate the first time I encountered it.

Sure it does. It keeps redneck trailer park trash from cooking meth.

Not really. They can still get the ****.

Its not like they were paying for it in the first place.

I hear ya Arafys. When they told me how much the damn inhaler was gonna cost, I nearly lost it. $51 with my insurance for a drug that used to cost $20 without insurance? Not because of the damn drug, but because the old crap used CFC's as a propellant, and the replacement environmentally safe propellant is still patented. I mean, how much of an impact does stupid personal use inhalers have versus major manufacturers CFC output?

The ironic thing is that if I had respiratory symptoms bad enough that I would require a nebulizer machine, I wouldn't pay a dime. My insurance would cover it all.

Stupid FDA. Stupid insurance. And, I hate to say it...stupid environment.

And on the pseudoephedrine crap...the pharmaceutical companies have replacement drugs that could potentially be more effective at treating symptoms, but cannot be made into meth. Problem is they don't want to pay for the FDA safety trials. Continuing the use of pseudoephedrine is more profitable.

And I dunno if the stupid "sign for your decongestant" stuff is all that effective. All it does is make the task of buying the medicine more annoying. When the people you are trying to restrict access to the medicine don't find scrubbing every hard surface in their house with a frikkin toothbrush annoying, and are quite comfortable with ID theft, how much of a deterrent is it? And does anyone actually attempt to use all those stupid ledgers and make a database out of them? I know Arizona doesn't.

I wouldn't mind if the sudafed was just behind a counter. That's prudent and useful.

Its the PITA ID BS that they request everytime I need a little sniffle stopper. Its annoying, worthless, and an all around waste of time and effort.
