I've been on really bad, snowy highways. And being directly behind a big plow was far better than driving on the road unplowed.

I hate being behind a hyper-cautious, paranoid, slow-reacting, elderly driver. They drive very slowly. They slam their brakes for anything that startles them. And they will also slam their brakes many, many car lengths before necessary when coming to a stop. They are unpredictable, chaotic, and their "safe driving" likely and ironically causes more accidents than they avoid.

Edit: Wow, there are some seriously stupid people in that video.... It's completely mind boggling that there were no injuries

I blame it on people not born to it. I don't recall stuff like this happening when I was a kid and we'd get big snowstorms. People either (a) stayed home or (b) knew how to drive in it. I see a lot of people going just a wee bit too fast there, when it's obvious something's going wrong.

Do you northerners still go out and do donuts in a big empty parking lot after the first snowfall? That was frequently my method of getting my "snow wheels" back every year. :D
