I don't know why anyone would want to play in the Superbowl this year. The game is in New York/Jersey and if things keep going the way they are now, they will be playing in about 10 feet of snow.

Current game time weather forecast for SF @ GB: -5 F, wind chill in the neighborhood of -30 F. 20% chance of snow.

Yea, I've decided I want Green Bay to beat the Fourty Whiners...

Just not sure I'd put any money on it.

I think I want New Orleans to beat Philly (unlikely) so they can come up to CLink and get whipped by the Seahawks... again...

I hope Krapernik's mouth gets stuck to his throwing bicep when he kisses it after throwing a TD pass. ;)

A powerful Arctic cold front is forecast to sweep across the region this weekend and set the stage for the coldest air mass seen over Wisconsin in years. Near Record cold is expected from Sunday night through Monday night. This bitterly cold air. Combined with winds of 10 to 20 mph, will create dangerously cold wind chill values in the 35 below to 55 below zero range Sunday night and again Monday night. Under these conditions, Frostbite could occur in 5 to 10 minutes.

I remember one time growing up, we had the wind chill get down to sixty below. You don't go outside for any reason, much less play football. Imagine a 90 degree day, then go sixty degrees down from that to freezing. Pretty big difference, right? Now go another ninety degrees down from there.

I lived in the Interior (Fairbanks area) of Alaska for one winter. That was enough.

I remember driving by a shopping center on my way to work. There was a temperature sign out front. It read -88...

This is not a temperature that humans (or animals of any kind) should be exposed to.

My car had been parked in the driveway of my house. When it started rolling, the tires were so frozen solid that they had flat spots from being parked.

The grease in the door latches was frozen solid. The doors would not latch closed.

I had cardboard over my radiator, but the car temperature never came up off of the "C". There was ice fog inside the car from my breath, and there was ice on the inside of the car windows. I would scrape it off, and it would re-form almost immediately.

Yes, being out in that weather was stupid, and I'm lucky to be alive. The locals up there have a saying.

"Alaska is where stupid people go to die"...

Lets hope no one dies at the Football game on Sunday. :)

Early 80s? I think I remember that night. I was in college, in Madison, and there was a bitter cold snap that got down that low with the wind chill. If not lower; for some reason, "-90 below wind chill" sticks in my head, but then again, much of those years are fuzzy. I was headed to Moscow the next semester, so to prepare for it, a friend of mine and I bundled up and walked over to another friend's house. It was a gas.

Huh. Just looked up "historical weather Madison 1981," and found that February 11th of that year was the coldest day - got down to 10 below. The day I'm thinking of is December 20th, which "only" got down to 1 below. (Heh, and two days later, it was a positively balmy 37 degrees.) Both of those days look to have had 25 mph winds, or thereabouts.

SoCal? I was in shorts yesterday.

In my home town in the mid 90's it got to -33 before the wind chill was factored. I recall something in the -70's wind chill (God, that sounds too cold to be true). I was working with a guy who'd just moved from SoCal and when he heard the forecast he asked me if we were to stay home because it was too dangerous, I told him that WI doesn't shut down in the winter - come to work. I started making plans to move that day...

This game could be the coldest in franchise history; colder than the Ice Bowl.

(Oh, wait, I was confused (as usual!). I was thinking you were Vindicarre (*both start with 'v', and have two 'r's' at the end ... I should have looked for the big GB signature, first. Vindicarre, are you from WI, too? Or just some other godforsaken land up north?!)

OK, back to football. It just occurred to me that this game starts at 3:30, GB time. Not even at noon, ya know? Man, it's gonna be a ridiculously cold.

How about an over/under of 3.5 for the number of shirtless fans shown on TV?! I'm gonna go for the under, but I bet there are at least 3 who show up.

You need seven men to spell out Packers.

Heh, they might settle for P-A-C-K, but that would still be the over. I was just picturing a lone, shirtless drunk, nothing so sophisticated as actually spelling out "Packers."

You always see some moron with no shirt in below freezing weather. How come you never see a guy dressed for the Yukon in Miami during the month of September?

Well,I missed the first 2 and a half quarters, but when I did pick it up, I didn't see any shirtless maroons. My people let me down.

Well, my team, too, but that's another story. At least I don't have to pay any attention until the Super Bowl now.

Dude would fall over dead of heat stroke before he got somewhere with a TV camera. It would just be a 'in other news' blurbs on a local tv station.
