Okay, since we're coming up on our chance to officially register as an org, there are a few choices we HAVE to make ahead of time (Spectrum ID being the biggest and most long-term impact of those) as well as several that would help us to present an organized and polished image in case we want the early days of orgs to be a useful early recruiting tool (which I could see going either way -- either lots of people will be looking for something they like to join in the first week or so, or everybody will be going too nuts creating their own and trying to recruit for many joiners to be around).
Anyways, first up: Spectrum ID. Obviously, if we can get the 2-character "VR" Spectrum ID, I'd be happy. That *might* be feasible, as I suspect V isn't super-common. Okay, nix that. There's a 3-character minimum. If not, VoidRanger will fit the field, but VoidRangers will not. If we wanted something shorter than the full VoidRanger, I'm open to input on how best to abbreviate. VOID? Okay, VOID is already taken on the test site, boo. RANGERS if we can't get VOID?
Secondly, while we can customize all the rank and role names, I included them in the other post because it gives a good idea of what the "default tone" of each is, and thus what people will infer from each. I definitely think that Corporation is definitely too bureaucratic-sounding and that Organization's default options come off as bland and uninspiring. I feel like PMC fits our mercenary bent pretty well, but a rebranded Organization could probably suit if that's what people prefer.
Based on the surveys I did a while back, I think it's safe to list "Freelancing" and "Exploration" as our primary and secondary activities. Any objections or other thoughts, here?
Obviously we should go with English as a listed primary language, but what about Role Play and Commitment? I'm personally leaning towards "Yes" and "Regular", for myself, but then I don't have a very strict or narrow definition of Role Play in computer games.
Then, there are a bunch of integrated pages we can alter as part of our branding: On the home page for our org are three buttons "H"istory "M"anifesto and "C"harter. History shows by default, underneath the 300 character Introduction. Clicking the buttons will show the others.
In addition, we've got the ability to change some of the images and coloration associated with our site. There's a theme that matches each org type's color scheme. There are also highlight color and font differences. I'll probably create with the PMC theme by default because, well, green and white. Lol. Once it's live, we can look around other folks' pages as easy examples of the other themes.
There are images for Banner (1140x380), Background (1366x768 and gets heavy alpha-transparency to keep stuff readable), Logo (175x175) and Icon (24x24). The background is a background image for the page itself. The ones they use by default fade to black at the bottom, and that looks good, IMO. The Banner and Logo appear at the top of the page, social media style, with the Logo inset to partially overlap the Banner's lower left corner. The Icon is... Okay, I'm not sure where the Icon is used.
