There you go, earning that merit badge again.
What kind of feedback are you looking for? I played the mod, and intend to play the standalone - I don't know about you, but that seemed to me like a positive endorsement.
And what is there, really, to be said about a game like this? There's you the player, an inexhaustible supply of zombies, and there are other players who at any given moment can only be trusted to do whatever they feel like doing. There are no NPCs, no quests, no objectives other than to stay alive as long as you can. Your every experience in the game will be heavily influenced by either the presence or absence of other players, and any opinions you garner from others will be based on their own unique experiences which may not resemble yours.
As for critiquing a nuance - it matters. I have played the mod, but have not played the standalone game. Thus, I can share some thoughts on how the game mechanics work in the mod but have nothing at all to offer with regards to the standalone game. Not wanting to offer utterly useless input by telling you how I feel about the one when what you really want is information about the other, I asked for clarification - namely, about which "DayZ" are you asking?
So instead of viewing my response as me acting like someone who should be punched in the mouth, try to see it the way it was intended. 'Cuz from my side of things, this is how that conversation has played out so far:
Rynar : Anybody know anything about DayZ? Shelgeyr : Which one, the mod or the standalone game? Rynar : Shel, you're a ****.
Based on that, I'd say you'll fit right in with the DayZ community. Survive long enough to scavenge some decent gear and you should be force-feeding disinfectant spray to n00bs in no time.
