This sounds very saddening. I had hopes that this could help break the outdated content distribution model. It would suck if they bungled their chance.

Maybe those bungled it, but XboxLive and Amazon VoD and iTunes had a picture perfect distribution, imo. And those were just the ones I experienced.

To be fair, iTunes et al were their normal, rock-solid selves. But Kickstarter backers who paid for digital copies were "rewarded" with Ultraviolet through Flixster. Which promptly had a heart attack.

To their credit, Warner Bros (who owns Flixster) then offered disappointed backers the ability to go buy the movie on their preferred platform and then get reimbursed.

I'll be honest, I love the idea of Ultraviolet, but their implementation, while better now than at launch, still leaves a massive amount to be desired.

So awesome.

It's the perfect ending, because it isn't an ending.
