Was fun running around last night Kaffis, that group bonus is pretty nifty.

I ended up digging out almost the entirety of my claim last night, but it's all underground and kind of hard to figure out where I need entry points. Right now I've got some rudimentary walls forming what will be the entrance tower, some stairs inside of it leading down, and a giant hole of inescapable death. I think it can work really well for the concept I've got but I definitely need to get the grappling hook tonight, almost impossible to build something that scale without one.

Yeah. Like I said, priority #1 for me was a hook. :) It's amazing how naked I felt without it.

It seems we can't actually attach claims from other people yet, so I'm going to just work on getting my two extra claim flags to extend it myself, but you do have build access already on my main one.

Nice. I like what you have going there. The snow setting looks fun also.

I will hop back in at some point (still need to switch clients). Might be a week or two before I have a chance to get in, but I'll let you guys know.

The OSHA guy looking over my shoulder is a tad concerned about the lack of railings on your stairs though....:)

I have 2-voxel-high railings on my stairs so you can't run off :) They will become more decorative though

He's an orc that drops an Ivy Etched Rune.

I just finished tunneling out the area for the ruin, going to put a little treasure chest in the last room. I am barely at the bottom of my first claim.

I'm thinking the attached claim on the bottom is going to be some kind of underground ice castle, and Redwind's tunnels may have gotten too close.

I haven't been able to excavate my second claim because it's completely underground and right now there's a bug with claims. Can't delete voxels within a 1 voxel buffer zone inside of the claim... which means I can't delete the very bottom of my first, nor can I delete the very top of the second.

Supposedly a fix should be in the patch today.

Surely you could still work on the interior by digging past the buffer zone with your pick, yes?

I'd pretty much have to go outside and dig inwards from the base of the mountain, it'd eventually close up behind me and then I'd be stuck underground with no way to get in or out other than the evac to safety. Actually, no. My second claim has zero open air so it is literally an impenetrable fortress of rock at this moment in time. I could use my pick from the outside, but I'd still just butt up against the wall of the claim.

The update notes from today seem like they should fix it, along with some other nice additions:

Spoiler:
Glowing Building Materials
• Eight new luminescent building materials can now be crafted at the Saw Table refining station. Once crafted, you can find Red, Orange, Green, Yellow, Blue, Indigo, Violet, and White Lumicite under the Stone section in your Material Tray.

GPU Physics
• For those with PhysX compatible graphics cards we’ve enabled GPU based turbulence and destruction particle effects. You can see some examples of these on the Leyline crystal on at the Portal Spire, the Void Vault, as well as mining and harvesting debris.
• This setting is located in the Game Settings > Video > GPU Physics.

Template Change
• We changed how props work in templates a bit. If you attempt to place a template that has both Voxels and Props, we will continue to report (as normal) what materials / props you're missing. However, if you have enough materials to place the template, but not enough props, we'll allow the placement of the template, minus any props that you might be missing.

Party Fix
• Party members are now visible on your map.

Bug Fixes
• It's possible you could get in to a state where Upkeep timers were saying "Zero Days remaining" even if you had a balance in your Upkeep Bank. Fixed!
• Occasionally, tooltips would remain on the screen until you activated another tooltip. This should occur with far less frequency.
• Fixed an issue where you couldn't build across Claim boundaries.
• Rare trees should appear more frequently.
• Looks like we've nailed down the issue where props would disappear / reappear after changing islands. Rejoice.
• Props now collide with each other during placement. This will greatly help initial placement of a prop when placing it on top of another prop. You can still force props to interpenetrate by using Tweak mode or the normal placement controls.
• Fixed an issue where the sky would become unnaturally bright when going underground in the Desert biome.
• Twitter would sometimes occasionally fail to post a screenshot. This should be resolved.
• Wind has been restored to all biomes. May your flags wave briskly.
• Tin should now appear more regularly at the end of copper veins.
• Sometimes you would fall through props if you were standing on one when the Map opened. No longer!
• You can now attach materials to Mail, directly from your Collections window in your Inventory.
• The ESC button should now properly close the Mailbox and the Leyline window.
• If you cancelled the deletion of a Claim, the Delete Claim button would remain grayed out until you re-opened the window. Fixed.
• You can now use the following characters in your Claim Description: !@#$%^&
• Sometimes when you joined a chat room, you could never leave it. This shouldn't happen anymore.
• Party leadership is now passed to the eldest member of the party, when the leader leaves.
• Fixed an issue where you could place multiple items over each other, in the Mail attachment window.
• If you teleported from your claim to your friend who is not on the same island or world, your claim header could persist. This is fixed.
• Previously, you could attempt to add yourself as a friend while in a group. Not anymore!


Also, player studio integration confirmed on or before May 1st.

Second claim is excavated and I've got some rudimentary blocking-out going on but I really need to find some reference pictures before I continue too far.

I have a chest at the end of my first claim with a bunch of extra rings in it, seems no one has explored my claim though, they're all still there :D

Kaffis, let me know if you need some Ancient Rootstock for the cobalt pick. I have a lot of extra.

I have no idea what the gully part means, but I did pick Liberation..


Also, I'm going to go with the fact that beta is beta, but this runs like ***. I get constant FPS drops whenever I'm doing anything. Swing a pick, drop to 10 fps, move forward, drop to 10 FPS...

Also, is there a way to rebind keys? Not having strafe on A and D is annoying me... and the mouse sensitivity needs to be bumped up

The different zones (all in the form of islands) have names. Gully is the island we have our claims on. It's a mix of the old growth forest biome and the tundra biome.

Be careful when zoning to gully, because you can freely switch between servers when changing zones. So double check that you're still selecting the liberation server's gully island if you're trying to visit our claims...

One important note... You switch servers / islands by clicking on the floating stone at the spires.

No keybinds yet.

Performance continues to get a bit better with each patch for me.
