Dayton police show RTA driver's bullet-riddled Bible
By Breaking News Staff
DAYTON — Dayton police held a press conference this afternoon to discuss and answer questions about the investigation into the assault on RTA bus driver Rickey Wagoner.
Wagoner was assaulted, reportedly by three males, and shot multiple times while working early Monday morning in the 1900 block of Lakeview Avenue.
Police displayed "The Message: Bible in Contemporary Language" book that the 49-year-old Wagoner claimed was in his shirt pocket and blocked two bullets from entering his chest.
The photo of the book, displayed on a slideshow during the press conference, showed damages from two bullets that hit it.
Police have not made any arrests in the case. Wagoner is recovering from his injuries at home.
Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl said the gun used in the attack, a .25-caliber handgun, was recovered. Biehl said detectives have not been able to trace the gun to it's registered owner.
He said investigators believe they have recovered all the shell casings left by the shooter at the scene.
This story will be updated as more information is released this afternoon.
Coincidence or Intervention, it's still pretty cool either way.
