I have a date in 11 hours. My last date was probably 10 years ago.

Quick! How do I girls?!

I'd love to say that that works, but ... I'm dubious. Of course, I have no real other suggestions, unfortunately.

It's been a LONG time since I had to date, but if I had to give a couple of tips they would be:
1) Listen more, talk less.
2) Be flexible, but don't be indecisive.
3) DO NOT CHECK OUT OTHER WOMEN WHILE ON THE DATE.

I'd recommend you pull a Constanza. Do the exact opposite of what you think is right. (works for me)

Don't overthink it. Just go have fun, and if you're actually interested in romantic relationship, be sure to let her know ASAP that its that kind of a date, not just friends dating.

Don't do that. A date is a date, friends "dating" is hanging out. Don't conflate the two or you'll come across as unconfident and make her question it.

If she agreed to go out with you it is a date.

Heh. This post was not 100% serious. I'm just being self-deprecating. I got all the panicking out of my system before I called her.

We're going to the Dallas Arboretum. Truthfully, she only barely knows me, so I don't think there's any chance of this being interpreted as "hey, friend, let's hang out". That said, this is really just a "get to know you" sort of date more than anything. If it winds up being a friend thing, I'm good with that too.

Good choice. Dinner is the worst first date imaginable.

But yeah, relax. Don't try to impress her, don't try to be something you're not (do you really want her to get interested in someone you're not able to keep up?).

Also - don't rely on her to do all the talking. It's ANNOYING when people won't hold up their end of the conversation. Show an interest in her, but don't interrogate her either.

Avoid awkward questions you would have a hard time answering.

"so, tell me about yourself"

The arboretum is really pretty right now, good choice. Try and get her to run through the water spraying frogs!

Yeah, it was nice. I wanted to get out there before spring gave way to the inferno. It's starting to get pretty warm, but not too hot yet. Lots girls were there getting photos in their gigantic quinceañera dresses. Lunch was had, conversation was made. I think it went pretty well. Arboretums are quiet and relaxing places, though, and the line between "quiet and relaxing" and "boring" can be a little thin. She said she had fun, but whether that was just the customary end-of-date niceties or she actually meant it is hard to say. We're in the same campus ministry group, so I'll be seeing her again throughout the summer. Hopefully I'll be able to get a better read on it in the next week or so.

Don't be passive, if you are interested then ask her out again :)

Best advice I can give is to try and ask more than one girl out at a time (not necessarily on the same date). This solves multiple problems:

1. Getting too worked up over just one person and being devastated if it doesn't work out.
2. It allows you to relax far easier because part of your brain knows that if you screw this up, it's not as big of a deal.
3. (Most) women seem to become more interested in a guy when they know that other women are also interested in them (though I strongly recommend that any info about your dating life is very carefully and unbraggingly leaked, if at all).

Essentially, it's all designed to make you a bit more aloof, relaxed, and confident. The three things that (most) women are looking for in a guy. It trumps even looks and physique.

Obviously, don't continue to do this once a clear relationship gets defined with one of them.

Ask her if she'd like to play with your penis.

Chicks like penises.

Definitely. It's not at all uncommon for girls to act less interested then they actually are, so ask again!

Talk about umbrellas for 60% of the date at least. Works for me.
