Statistically, the average American has one breast and one testicle.

So you're telling me I should move to Kentucky and start pushing people out of boats if I want to get married?

Might be a euphamism for "were strangled to death with bedsheet."

This one looks like more than just coincidence to me. In fact, it looks almost exactly like I would expect any long term study of those two factors to look....not spurious at all.

Yes. They correlate.

But there isn't necessarily a causal relationship. ;)

No...i believe in this case there is a common causal relationship for both!

You can have clouds without precipitation. ;) You can have precipitation without clouds too. Its rare, but it happens.

You can, but since the most common source of precipitation (clouds) is also a common source of blocking sunlight, a logical causal relationship beyond mere correlation can be shown.

Yeah, but while sunlight is fairly well distributed over days where it's sunny, rainfall is not evenly distributed over days when its cloudy. For example, if you got all your rain in one month, the "average daily" precipitation wouldn't tell you very much.

That's true, which is why it would be foolish to say "precipitation causes a lack of sunny days". Rather, the same thing that causes precipitation also causes not-sunny days - namely, clouds. This particular example nicely illustrates both sides of the issue.

I feel this is causal.
