Fund and execute worldwide large scale release of pandemic agents. Cloister 200 people in safe area. Reduce world population preemptively.

Call the angel a cheapskate, way too little money to fund the job. $2500 a head barely covers notification, sales (really, would you believe me if I fed you that story?) and transportation costs.

This leaves little to no money to purchase, stock, and fortify the survivor base.

However, since the angel told me to do it, I start by calling the person nearest me, "hi, you don't know me but we need to talk. Can I buy you a cup of coffee somewhere public?"

I'm assuming I could gain a lot more money from some of those on the list since we have the same goal - survival. But the best bet would be to reduce the existing human population or at least in your general area as much as possible before the event. Less people = less zombies and more goods.

LOL on the money. Per the scenario, he gave you NO money, that's just what you already had saved. So yeah, he's cheap.

The constraints are the constraints. I'm interested in what you'll do, given those constraints.

I think the biggest issue is collecting the 200. There's no way you're going to put them on an island in advance. Won't happen.

As far as stockpiling supplies, the way I see it, you only really need 90 days. Beyond that, it's easy pickings. Once we set up base camp, I'd establish a couple of raiding parties whose mission would be both to thin out the density of zombies in the surrounding area and gather additional supplies. Seeds, food, clothing, ammunition, solar panels, tools, lumber for our big F-ing fence.

Look, you're going to need help. These 200 people you are required to save... odds are they aren't going to help you. They will think you are crazy. You need people who don't think you're crazy. So where do you go?

The prepper community. You need to find 200 preppers who will believe your story. I think that's doable, especially if you recruit a few very charismatic/persuasive ones early on to help you convince the others.

Then, I'd take a page from Arathain's plan and develop a hunker-down option for each of the 200 people you are required to save. Except now you will assign 1 prepper to each of the 200 people in need of saving. The preppers will collect the 200 VIPs when the zombie infestation is just beginning and bring them back to their bunker/whatever they have prepared.

Once you have that all set up, you can start working on a plan to unite everyone in some central location after all the **** hits the fan. I'm thinking it will involve some huge armored bus that you will drive around to pick everyone up in, over the course of several months.

People who genuinely believe that:
*They were contacted by a supernatural being
*They know future outcomes
*They alone know the true interpretation of said supernatural being's words
*The human race will perish unless they follow what was proscribed

Generally are quite ill. The worst ones start religions.

For the record, this is what I would actually do. I just feel this response fails to answer the intent or spirit of the original question.

Yeah, yeah, I know. That's why I got out of the thread as quietly as possible (probably shouldn't have posted in the first place). It's an interesting scenario, I'm just too much of a skeptic/literalist to properly parse it.

This is brilliant. The only problem I see with this is that while this will substantially increase your chances of surviving initially, from what I know of the prepper community, they are fairly crazy as a whole and are not focused on rebuilding post-apocalypse. I wonder if you're setting up a long term situation where your trying to rebuild a society in which 50% of your population are loners / anarchists.

Hilarity would ensue, I'm sure.

I am pretty sure the preppers wouldn't want to join in. They'd just double down their efforts to make sure "them and their own" are taken care of. They aren't stockpiling enough food, weapons and medicine to take care of humanity.

I run a preppers page, pretty much run the gamut.

You'll have your people who its a game, the zombie guys who buy whacky stuff and talk about it like some follow sports.

You get the old timer survivalists waiting to eat their own poop and run into the woods and live in a cave and make fire with their toenails and ash of civilization.

you get the doomsday prepper folks who buy anything with a bear grylis or whomever on it who are so focused on their one kind of thingy they go overboard

You get practical people wanting to survive a three day+ grid down emergency some who combine it with their real life and some who don't.

I'm in the last category.
