Is not internet spaceships, so my attention is elsewhere.

J/k. I don't usually watch anything live, I wait to catch summaries and then chase down trailers or previews based on what sounds interesting.

So, I was walking by my co-worker's desk. He's like, "Hey, Microsoft's got this cool new multiplayer game coming out November. It's called Halo 2."

I looked over his shoulder.. the upres looks very nice, and I'll admit, I'll probably be happy to play all 4 in the same engine on the same console. Smart move, Microsoft.

Yeah, I had my eye on the livestream while I was talking to my coworker. No sound, but Ori and the Blind Forest looked like a gorgeous [platformer?] game. Project Spark had character art that almost reminded me of Landmark. And I'm pissed I walked away before the Tomb Raider bit, lol. Gonna have to look that up, because Tomb Raider 2013 was easily my traditionally published game of the year.

Project Spark is a video game? I thought that was their codename for their revamped Xbox Arcade policy

Cuphead, Ori and the Blind Forest, and Grave look quite interesting. I'm kinda losing my taste for most triple-A titles (though Dragon Age: Inquisition and Alien: Isolation are high on my "most wanted" list). Sunset Overdrive looks fun, but probably won't shake out to be a game I'd stick with. Project Spark looks...interesting, but most "you make the game" games wind up falling flat.

Still, that's a good run. Keep this up, Microsoft, and I might think about purchasing one of your Kinect-less Xboxen.

But no. goddamn. zombies.

Zombies are officially an academic thing.

What are some examples of really good indie games? I always end up with buggy, sloppy control good-enoughs and end up feeling cheated.

Outlast, Child of Light, Bastion, Guacamelee!, Thomas Was Alone, Torchlight, and Limbo are all multiplatform, if I'm not mistaken.

Well Sony pretty much just curb stomped Microsoft. Too much to count.

I'm excited for From Software's next project, Bloodborne, and No Man's Sky looks interesting if they can actually pull off what they claim. A few others have potential too.

Holy ****, surprise Grim Fandango remaster for the PS4 and Vita! Thanks, Sony and Disney!

Wait, who told No Man's Sky that video games were allowed to have color and look joyous? Dammit, now everyone will want more than brown and gray.

OK, so Nintendo announced a new game at E3 last night. It's an RPG/strategy hybrid set in an alternate history steampunk London, wherein you fight aliens inspired by the works of Lovecraft as part of an elite squadron assembled and directed by Abraham Lincoln. Go home everyone, video games are over. We won.

Between this and "ride around in a goddam spaceship looking at goddam dinosaurs", this wasn't E3. It was E∞.

I dunno if I could say "curb stomped"; I thought Microsoft did quite well. It was enough to change me from actively recommending against getting an Xbox, to probably getting one at some point for Crackdown.

Meanwhile though, I'm still just blown away that this quality was run on a console, in a game level in real time at 60fps:

Coren:

That was not run on a production console, in real time, in a game level, at 60 fps.

Those fantastic trailer videos from Sony are NEVER run on a production console, in real time, in a game level, at 60 fps. The legendary FFVII tech-demo on PS3 hardware, followed by the legendarily awesome MGS Tech Demo for whichever MGS game it was, etc. ... were all pre-rendered CGI.

Sony put out a fantastic presentation, but they've given us enough bullshot videos over the years that ... you should know better.

That doesn't mean that Uncharted 4 won't be the best looking game a console has ever seen, though.
