The wording is still funny, though. In-engine and real level doesn't mean that they don't have some effects enabled that wont make it to launch. Lets wait until we see a scene with more than one character and a lot of moving parts.

Oh, right, I agree. There's no acknowledgement from Naughty Dog that gameplay itself will be at that fidelity once you add in AI, physics, etc.

But, the individuals at Naughty Dog was very clear that the scene itself was rendered at realtime at 1080p/60fps, and unlike other Sony studios with a more dubious history, Naughty Dog has always been pretty honest about their game assets. They've long acknowledged their cutscenes in Uncharted 3/The Last of Us were rendered using 8 PS3s for instance, and anytime they've claimed something was real gameplay, the final game has met or exceeded their claims.

Yeah, Bungie is calling it a "shared-world shooter" to avoid the MMO label.

Well if retail plays anything like it does now, "shared-world shooter" is a much more accurate description than MMO. Instead of lots of people being dumped together in a zone (hence, "massively"), when free roaming in the world, I just occasionally run into someone. It feels more like Journey than WoW.

That actually sounds pretty damn cool. Now if only they were releasing for PC....
