Children under 14 - home by 9PM year round.
14 to 16 - 10PM weeknights and 11PM weekends.
under 16 - not allowed out 7:30 am to 3 pm during school days.

Parents subject to $500 fine and/or PARENTING CLASSES. Because, yeah, Baltimore City should be teaching people how to be parents.

This is disgusting. There's so many bad assumptions in a law like this, I don't know where to begin. Starting with the suggestion that the City knows better as to what your child should be doing.

Generally speaking I'm a big fan of "their city their rules" However
Minors accompanied by their legal guardian should be able to be wherever their parents are unless that's a generally age restricted place (bars, strip clubs).

I mean, I don't live nearby, so I can't claim to be up on current events... but isn't Baltimore still a pretty hideously crime-riddled hellhole? I mean, I'm all down with "the government isn't in the business of parenting" but at some point it is in the business of imposing martial law if it can't get **** under control any other way.

Good. Keep the little bastards inside. They have school in the morning.

The no child out 7-3 is what gets me somewhat. So if I home-school my 15 year old, he can't walk across the street to get us a loaf of bread during the day? By the letter of the law anyway.

If Baltimore doesn't like it, Baltimore can stop being so shitty.

This is to prevent crime, right? We're restricting people's rights to make it harder for them to commit crimes. The acts they are trying to prevent are already illegal.

What if Baltimore has determined that the majority of its crimes are committed by teenagers at night? It would be much simpler to catch the bad ones if they're all automatically bad once the sun goes down, instead of trying to figure out a legitimate reason for stopping someone.

If the Baltimore police force is insufficient to the task currently, extra duties in the realm of child care will not improve the situation.

Why is it liberals are always quick to punish law abiding citizens for the benefit of criminals?

Because the system won't let us actually punish the criminals properly?

Because its easier and they can demagogue that the other side as "soft on crime" when they disagree, but you already knew that ;)

Having spent 5 years in the area and interacting with BPD once, I will defer to Ripley for "actionable items" in regards to Baltimore:

On the contrary, given the nature of Baltimore, I think it's an extremely measured and fair approach.

We could just ask the Russians to do it for us and save the cost of a few warheads.

But I live here. I don't think any of you want to live in a world where Arathain was nuked by Russians.

Since the subject is Baltimore, I initially misread this as "I always suspected Arathain was Bunk."

Which was an entirely different mental image.

Suborbital nuclear warheads are the only option at this point.
