in her defense, he seems to commit to that bear right awful late and from the second to the right lane to boot.

Edit It appears to me that she's only watching the right most lane, starting her cross to the center after that lane is clear I'm not sure if it was legal or illegal for him to bear right without a proper merge first. However it is the kind of thing that happens and something one should probably watch for, especially when you are small and squishy going up against a few tons of metal and fiberglass. I don't think it means she has a death wish or is generally absentminded though.

That's a male Dobsonfly of some sort. The worst he could possibly do to you is spray you his equivalent of skunk musk. The musculature supporting those mandibles is ill formed, and they are used only in mating. Female Dobsonflies, however, have much smaller mandibles and can bite hard enough to draw blood.

These insects are not venomous and are native, in one variety or another, to both North America and most of the Eurasian continent. They are not, strictly speaking, lacewings.
