Apparently Elizabeth Olsen was booed at SDCC when, during a Q&A session, she corrected herself from referring to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver as "Mutants" to "Mutated Humans."

(Yay for IP rights.)

I don't see why it would be any more ridiculous than what Cap did in his last movie or in The Avengers.

The biggest disappointment is that we'll probably have to wait for Avengers 4 to see Thor beat the **** out of Tony Stark, if ever :(

I brought it up because Iron Man 2 suffered from exactly this problem, they really had to contrive the script to bring Iron Man into Whiplash's range on multiple occasions for no good reason.

No, it's Fox. Sony has Spider-Man (and are reportedly in talked to share the character). Fox has all of the mutants, and the Fantastic Four (which no one but Kaffis cares about :P).

Have you seen what Fox has done to the FF? I care about atrocities, and want them stopped.

Not to mention, so long as Fox has the FF license, we can't have Marvelverse Skrulls. Or Galactus. Or Doom. (Khross cares about the FF, too, btw, for obvious reasons and because Marvel actually knows how to write super-smart characters with depth and credible blind spots)

One of the articles yesterday about the wave 3 reveals suggested that Civil War wouldn't be about registration, but rather, a dispute over who works for whom.

Which should work fine, as a plot, for Cap 3 post-Hydra... but why call it Civil War?

Anybody you gain name recognition points from is going to recognize you're bait-and-switching the plot in the process. Very weird decision, if true.

Yeah, "you have to reveal your secret identity and put everyone you love in mortal danger" seems a bit more intense than "We might change bosses, your checks are gonna get signed by this guy instead." "But we don't want the government to tell us what to do!"

Not nearly as much moral confusion there.

Also, I really wish Spider Man was going to be involved. He was one of the best parts of the event in the comics.

A good take on how not only a Civil War-based story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe could work, but also work better than in the comics: http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-ways-new- ... -original/

Besides, Iron Man and Captain America battling over the heart of Spider-Man makes less sense than most yaoi with the same plot (And involves about the same amount of spider-fluid).

This quote pretty much saves the article.

Quote:
Ditching secret identities means the movie can focus on what the original comic should have been about: security versus liberty.

Except, isn't that what Captain America 2 was essentially about? I mean, after the whole "Turns out we let Hydra get the keys to the super-security-enforcing-orbital-death-battleships," how do you present the American people as turning right back around and saying, "You know what? I think we need that kind of thinking again. What could go wrong?"

I am sorry. It shouldn't have anything to do with that damn comic. I just hate the whole idea. I'd rather watch another movie with the Red Skull.

They can't use the term "mutants" in the MCU. Fox has the rights to that term, but I don't think they have the rights to superpowers derived from genetic mutation. AFAIK, they're just calling them something else ("Miracles"?).

They should just go head and use the term mutants and play in court. Fox will find out just how much weight "the rights" to that term really carries, like Games Workshop and space marine.

Disney is playing hardball with the companies that have Marvel's distributed movie rights.

Directives from the Mouse to Marvel Comics publishing:

-Until further notice, no characters will be introduced first in X-Men. Any new characters in x-Men comics will need to be introduced in other properties first. (No sense creating new IP for Fox to use.)
-Fantastic Four has been cancelled, shelved as a comic until Disney gets the rights back.
