My older brother has a "very aggressive" cancer. I still haven't heard what kind and exactly where the mass (somewhere in/around the lungs) is.

He had a biopsy today, and they also drained fluid from around his heart (he was having trouble breathing).

I hate waiting.

So sorry Serienya. Hugs and good thoughts.

My father just had major surgery for 1st and 2nd stage cancers of the esophagus. My mother died of liver cancer in 1989. I know the horrendous toll cancer takes. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your brother.

He's got non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, so it is treatable. Thank the universe for some positives!

He now gets more testing (PET scan, etc) to see if it's gone elsewhere (to figure out what stage).

He starts chemo next week (6 courses over 18 weeks).

Resurrecting for an update.

It was Stage 2.

The last chemo was this week. The cancer is in remission. However, nerve damage has caused his diaphragm to not work properly, and he is having trouble breathing.

I saw him in Sept, and will hopefully see him over the holidays. He gave my sister an epic guilt trip when she was figuring out whether to go to her in-laws' for Xmas dinner: "I have cancer, so you are making me a turkey." :)

Thank goodness he is in remission! May your family enjoy the holiday season and celebrate his remission!

Lots of hugs all around!

I won't be seeing him over the holidays. My mom, who has been helping him, has a cold and has moved to a hotel to avoid getting him sick. So she doesn't want to travel in a car with him this week.

I'm sorry you won't get to see him. Still, sounds like mostly good news.

For the most part. He finally got a BiPAB to help him breathe. It is sounding like this is a permanent problem.

...And I found our yesterday that my ex-SIL has a lymphoma as well.

At least they've been treatable cancers. That's still good news.
