So, what do you think of the rumors that Chris Pratt is being considered by Disney for the title role in the next Indiana Jones movie?

If it's true, I think he'd be a pretty good Harrison Ford replacement.

Honestly can't think of someone that would do better.

I <3 the Indiana Jones films (ALL THREE OF THEM), much more than something like Star Wars. The rumors of Chris Pratt made me go from "Ugh, please don't reboot this" to "You know what? Bring it on, muthafukkas."

THREE of them? There were really only TWO Indiana Jones movies.




I know that it's far too early to argue this point -- we don't even know if the rumors are true. However, I would say that changing the actor does not need to be a "reboot" in the traditional sense. Indy movies are very "episodic" - they stand alone with very little need for continuity between them. Eon Productions did not "reboot" James Bond with every incarnation (although one could argue Daniel Craig was a reboot - after 21 movies and 5 previous actors playing James Bond). Chris Pratt could simply be "The next Indiana Jones" ... without in any way invalidating Raiders/Last Crusade.

I'm using "reboot" loosely...not necessarily a remake of, say, Raiders, but obviously not a strict continuation of ancient Indy continuing on from That Which Shall Not Be Named.

The movies weren't released in chronological order, anyway... Temple of Doom was a prequel to Raiders.

Honestly, Hans Solo and Indiana Jones are pretty much the same character.

Indy really should be treated like James Bond. Chris Pratt is far superior to some other actor that might have thought to try to pick up the fedora.

What's different? Both rogues that are really good guys. Tomb raider / smuggler. Both shoot first. Both get the girl.

Solo settles down a bit more than IJ, but they're basically the same. They even look the same.

Dr. Jones would say, and has said, this belongs in museum. Han would say...

"Hey Chewie, how much do you think we can get for this thing-a-ma-bob."

Just because they have the same smile, doesn't mean the characters are the same.

Solo was only out for himself alone in the first 99% of Movie 1

Unlike Solo who never gets boarded or captured.

I think he'd do fine, but I'd rather they just not reboot them.

As stated, I don't think these will be a reboot. I think they'll fit into continuity with the existing movies.

So Chris Pratt is like... the grown up shia lebouf? Really, if they want to rock the legitimacy without a reboot, he should just be another illegitimate Indy child. The lovechild of Indy and Willie. Indy sowing those adventuring seeds. *Anything Goes.*

No. They are going to handle the roll like James Bond now.

At least that is the way I see it.

No. He'd be Indiana Jones. As Raell says - think James Bond. Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan were all just continuations of James Bond - although, much like Indiana Jones, they lacked any complex continuity to make this difficult. It wasn't until James Blonde that they rebooted...as Casino Royale was an "origin story".
