Like for one, I live in the Bible belt, and I am not really religious.

I can't comment on the sites or the practice, but I would think that the women that fit into the stereotype of "Bible belt" you seem to assume and fear are most likely not posting e-profiles on sites like these. Not to mention, the idea of "Bible Belt" is largely outdated except in small towns and rural areas. All of the larger cities in the various states that comprise this belt are considerably less conservative/bible thumping than the stereotype. Its been my experience, living here 88% of my life is that while churches compete with CVS/Walgreens for the most corner occupancies, most people treat church as a social event/expectation and less as a guide to life.

FYI at least with OkCupid, the Male/Female ratio is about 3/1 from what I can tell. (Chose a random city, open the search parameters as wide as possible but limit the geographic area, then search for men and then repeat and search for women)

If the male/female ratio holds true across all dating sites, that is REALLY Depressing news.

Well, could be a few things considering the near 50/50 split in US population between the sexes...

1) More are more likely to pursue multiple avenues for meeting women...
2) More men use multiple "profiles" with different answers (or whatever is posted) to broaden their chances..
3) More married men than married women post as single to meet extracurricular partners...
4) 80% of the US population is Mormon..

etc, etc...

The male/female ratio is why I don't care for dating sites anymore. Takes too much effort writing to just get one date. All that prevents me from meeting a girl in a train station or book store is a psychological glass wall.
