I bought my 1995 Ford Ranger 4X4 used in 1999 with 70K miles on it. I put another 140K on it, but it had been relegated mostly to trash and landscaping runs over the last half dozen years. I've had a surprising number of random folks knock on my door asking to buy it, but a 16 year old kid that just got his drivers license finally wore me down. After his third time coming by, I took him on a tour of everything wrong with it, but he made me an offer anyway.
Apparently, I still saw my truck as it was when I first bought it, but as I noted to the young prospective buyer, the leaks, rust, two year expired tabs (not that it stopped me from driving it), mildew, moss, dents, etc; I realized what my wife had been saying for years...it was an eyesore taking up valuable driveway space (she went as far as calling it a piece of ****...which I cannot quite fathom). So I accepted the kids offer, he had his father come down to give it look and make the deal (infancy and all in contracts), and I am now without a truck for the first time in 15 years. It makes me sad, but happy that it went to a kid who really wanted it.
He lives just a few blocks away and he's already detailed it...it cleaned up nice. But I already miss it some. So Godspeed my faithful Ranger, may you have many more miles before you sleep.
