This is so vile I thought about not sharing it. However, I've seen it, and I don't see why I should have to suffer alone. The image itsself is safe for work the cursing session that may follow it, perhaps not so much.

Probably because it's too heavy or expensive to be practical for that, sort of how like soldiers don't have inserts made of depleted uranium for their body armor.

Cost vs. the commonality of lightsaber wielders in most eras.

Also, Jedi and Sith are already in possession of the two things that are best used to deal with a lightsaber. 1) Their own lightsaber, and 2) The Force.

If only someone invented ballistic weapons that travel at the speed of sound.

Oddly enough, the trailer was kind of "meh" to me. It's being *so* cagey with playing the plot close to its vest, that trailering this movie has devolved into a montage of contextless special effects shots showing mostly familiar iconic vehicles doing pretty standard things. It could be an assembly of archive footage if it weren't for some of the backdrops.

Also, a stormtrooper pulling his helmet off and looking scared.

So Luke's Daughter is a Jedi, and befriends the only black stormtrooper ever. And there's Han and Chewie.

I want this to be good, but I echo Kaffis' statement about "Meh."

That's why they called it "Teaser 2" instead of "Trailer 1."

Which doesn't change any of what you said. We're 7 months away. There should have been an actual full fledged trailer 5 months ago.

Come on, you guys are kidding me! A dogfight in the carcass of a star destroyer? Crushed and burned Vader mask? Luke's new robo-hand and the cool new Sith mask? An actual female heroine that might do more than change costumes for the entire film? I can't wait, bring it on Disney!

Shiny Ship in the desert? Tattooine?
A princess?
Space stations?
Giant Tank things in the forest?
Samuel Jackson? Yoda! Anakin meeting Obi Wan? OMG!
Two bladed lightsaber guy! WOW!

Yeah, Until I see it, its not going to get anything more than extremely cautious optimism.

Ok, true, however there are 2 things helping my optimism.

1) Lucas didn't write it
2) Lucas didn't direct it

So hopefully we'll get a star wars movie instead of a treatise on how trade disputes affect aliens from the film "Spaced Invaders".

Don't get me wrong, I'm jazzed for all of the non-OG trilogy parts of the film.

Yea, I hate to say it but he just looked out of place. Everything was bright, shiney and new. Then...Indiana Solo.

But, I have faith in JJ.

I would have much more faith in JJ if he hadn't made Star Trek Into Darkness. Actually, "made" isn't the right word there. "Committed".

Into Darkness was pretty good.

Into Darkness was pretty good.

...No. I hated it that year even more than I hated Elysium which was...a lot. It was the most sickeningly pandering, blatant-cash-grab excuse for a retread that I've ever seen, and I've seen Amazing Spider-Man 2. All of the potential of his 2009 Star Trek was squandered on a string of terribly-executed, imaginationless, emotionally-bankrupt "greatest hits" covers.

Wow, I'm usually right there with you on movie reviews Farsky, but I think you're just flat out wrong about Into Darkness.

The only thing I could really see anyone complaining about was the Khaaaaaaan line, but honestly I enjoyed the turn about.
