Good reaction. That's a defensive maneuver.

Just finished Daredevil. Amazing. This is the best MCU thing Marvel has done yet.

I finished it as well. Only disappointment is that I wish his mask looked more like the intro one. Also it got a little slow there in the final third; didn't really care for the girl even though she was necessary. Wilson Fisk = fantastic.

That last episode was teeny bit of a letdown, if for no other reason than it couldn't live up to the rest of the masterful first season. Also, confession (heh): I dug Daredevil's Under Armour-and-do-rag getup more than his final costume. The mask/helmet looks kinda weird to me...really squished in the facial area or something. But those minor bits can't dampen my enthusiasm for the rest of it. Bring on AKA Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and even Luke Cage, if they're all gonna be like this. And, it goes without saying, Daredevil season two.

The Melinda May storyline from this week's Agent's of Shield was very well done. And now we know why she's called the Calvary....

on one hand I really want to get back to this show, on the other hand I get tired of shows where the Good guys repeatedly get beat over the head with a proverbial stick.

I'm still torn on the trailer. The other dimension vs space for the powers doesn't bother me. I wonder what they'll do with Doom's origin. Not really sure how I feel about the way the human torch looks.

Yeah, that Fantastic Four trailer sold me. Good job, Fox. Even Phe is excited for it now, and she hates the FF.

Embed broken. This one ought to work.

I'm still not convinced a FF origin story is worth telling. The First Family in superheroes is about being a(n occasionally dysfunctional) family, and spending the first two acts telling an origin story, means you're not watching the selling point of the damn franchise until there's ten, maybe twenty minutes left in the movie.

I'm completely fine with it, if it wipes the slate clean of those terrible, terrible earlier films. You certainly can't levy the origin story criticism against Rise of the Silver Surfer, and it was even worse than the first.

I'd argue that Rise of the Silver Surfer suffered from a complete lack of understanding of any of the characters, which is also evidenced by the decision to make an origin FF story.

I'm thinking at this point, we no longer need origin stories of characters that have been out for over 60 years.

Daredevil season 2 confirmed for 2016.

Given their intent to release multiple series leading up to the Defenders, and the staggered release of the series, I wasn't 100% positive that we'd see the existing series get additional seasons, so that's good to confirm. Also, it sounds like AKA Jessica Jones is going to be hitting sooner than was previously hinted, slated to come out before the year's out instead of in the spring release slot next year as I'd previously been lead to believe. Which is great, because it'll be interesting to see what they do with such a young (created less than 15 years ago!) character that's not nearly as well known as previous franchises DC and Marvel have taken to the screen. And, of course, an accelerated staggered series release schedule means we get to Iron Fist sooner, which is awesome.

Spoiler:
So who wants to give me odds on Gao being a setup to introduce K'un L'un? I'm looking forward to Nobu's folks being The Hand, which I assume will be a major feature of Daredevil season 2 -- let's hope Scott Glenn manages to cling to life a few more years on that front -- but I couldn't place Gao until the conversation in which she told the Owl she was leaving.

Also, what's with Spider-Man and Daredevil in getting/occasionally-sharing a rogues gallery full of silly villains with animal names?

Ohhhhh (re: Madame Gao). I'm not knowledgable enough about Iron Fist to pick up on much of that stuff. The whole Defenders group is a bit of a...uh, blind spot for me.

Spoiler:
/facepalm. Yes, how did I miss that, duh? I thought it looked familiar, but I couldn't place it. Well, I'm right, then. K'un L'un is the pocket dimensional space that houses all the mystical orders and villains Iron Fist pals around with/fights. Its gateway is in the wilds of Mongolia or some such, hence the line about her returning to a place "much farther" (or whatever the line was) than China.

I see what you did there!

I'm kind of amused at your blind spot, considering your love for the good Doctor Strange. I don't have a lot of love for Luke Cage, but I'm still interested to see what their take on him will be. I stand by my old line about how Heroes for Hire should've been a blaxploitation kung fu buddy copdetective movie, though.

I really like what they did with Nobu and Gao, though, and that definitely has me excited for the mystical themes bound to be upcoming in future Daredevil and Iron Fist stuff. It's really weird; I've never been into the kung fu movie genre, but Brubaker's and Fraction's runs on Iron Fist really sold me on the character in a way that completely blindsided me.

Also, good news: Just because Daredevil got an armored suit doesn't mean you've seen the last of his black mask costume. Only, Danny Rand wears it shirtless and in bright yellow and green. Look out, ladies!

Actually, I forget: have we heard casting for Iron Fist?

Toad to Iron Fist. Poor guy can't catch an A-lister break since Darth Maul. ;)

That article's from 2006 (I can't see the year on the website, but if you pull it up on a mobile device it shows...go go poor web design). Iron Fist is the one Defender not yet cast (Krysten Ritter is Jessica Jones and Mike Colter is Luke Cage).

Ah, okay. That explains why I hadn't heard it before.
