Yes! Except, the actor's voice kept bugging me as to where I knew it from, and I had to go look, now I can't watch him without imagining cockroaches crawling out of his mouth. Ugh.

I've had a lot going on, so I've still got two episodes to go, really liking it. Kinda funny that to me how DC can't seem to get a movie right but cleans up in TV. Marvel cleans house in movies, but can't seem to get TV right. It took Netflix to make Daredevil, Agents of Shield isn't really based on any canon, same with Agent Carter, but it isn't doing very well so far.

D'onofrio's done some very well known stuff, yet somehow lots of people forget who he is. His Full Metal Jacket role had to be what he's most famous for, though. MiB (your cockroaches), and Law & Order: Criminal Intent (not for how well known the series is, but because he was the main character) would be next.

Yoink.

Also, saw Avengers last night. Will see it tomorrow with my brother, and probably be glad for the chance to absorb it again. There was definitely a lot happening, and I know I went "oh, I should talk about that reference later..." and then forgot by the end of the movie because there was just so much going on there.

A little bit shocked by the casualty, though.

Wow. The cast of Cap3 makes it look more like Avengers 2.5.

Yes, pleasant surprise.

Just the day before I'd heard that it was not being renewed. Now I find Mockingbird was never greenlit, and Agent Carter and MAoS are renewed for more.

I felt the idea of a Mockingbird series was redundant. It's easier just to use her in MAoS as a secondary focus character. That keeps the continuity from getting even more divided.

Yeah...I'm not sold on the idea of an Agents of SHIELD spinoff series (mainly 'cause Agents of SHIELD itself couldn't even keep me watching). But I'm thrilled that Agent Carter is returning, and Marvel's other TV foray, Daredevil, is one of the best things they've ever done in their nearly-a-decade of the MCU. They can do TV, I just can't find enthusiasm for AoS (and I have tried, multiple times).

I think the problem with Agents of SHIELD is that they have to spin things out for a really long time to mesh their plot with movie release tie-ins, and that doesn't do favors to the pacing. In addition, it doesn't help that they have to tiptoe around various licensing landmines like the usage of the "mutants" term.

On the one hand, it's nice that they finally let the cat out of the very transparent bag and are throwing around the Inhumans label, now. On the other, it makes me wonder even more strongly why you make Quicksilver unavailable, since he's the strongest tie-in to the Avengers stable you're going to canonically have.

Spoilers for Avengers: Age of Ultron:
Spoiler:
Quote:
According to the reddit user/student covering the Q&A, Feige informed the crowd that "Quiksilver is DEAD. 100%, he's not coming back any time soon, there are no plans. No LMD [life model decoy], no escaping bullets, no retcon. (Feige) said he is dead and wanted to make sure people understood that."

The reddit user also noted, "During filming of original Avengers they were already planning AoU - they knew Quiksilver [sic] would die, Vision and Scarlet Witch would have a 'moment,' and that the gem was in the scepter."

So it would appear that Marvel has essentially ceded Quicksilver's big screen future to Fox's X-Men movies. Days of Future Past's Evan Peters is expected to reprise his role as the speedster in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse.

Director Joss Whedon did recently reveal that while they shot an ending where Quicksilver actually survived, he opted against using it because "it felt very disingenuous for me, especially the second time around, to make what I refer to as 'a war movie' and say that there is no price and everybody walks away. In this movie, we’re saying, 'Prove to me that you guys are heroes.' And he’s the guy that does it."

I generally like MAoS, probably because there isn't a lot of else good on TV right now. I do agree that a lot of the problems with it seem to be related to it's tie-ins with the movie franchises. Watching the first episode after the release of Avenger's AoU, which I have not been able to go see yet, was like completely missing several episodes.

I'm hoping that having the inhumans available now, will give them their own legs to stand on. Seems like from what I've read, Joss is going to take on a larger role with the show as well, which should be a good thing.

Marvel will never allow their TV series to do anything that would imperil their box office returns, which is part of the reason Agents of SHIELD feels so lightweight. Almost by definition, nothing of note can happen, lest the movie audiences be left out in the cold.

Series like Agent Carter and the Netflix stuff can stand alone, but Agents of SHIELD's entire premise is so closely tied to the MCU entries that it feels like appendices.

Asa Butterfield is Peter Parker?

This kid is now 18 years old. The problem is every time I've ever seen him, he's played someone much younger, so I don't know what to think of it.

Given that he's likely (confirmed?) to appear first in a Captain America movie, I think this is probably pretty safe.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige wrote:
In Spider-Man’s very specific case, where there have been two retellings of that origin in the last whatever it’s been – [thirteen] years – for us we are going to take it for granted that people know that, and the specifics. It will not be an origin story, but, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers.

There is a young kid [already] running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU, you just don’t know it yet.
