So after loving Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, I was really disappointed with the reviews of Arkham Origins and didn't even pick it up. I didn't do any research, so I didn't realize Origins was done by a different studio (Warner brothers Games Montreal), and that helped to explain the shift in quality. Rocksteady is back, and just based on the reviews, I picked up the new one (which is a direct sequel to City.)

No idea how long this deal will last, but I picked up the premium edition (Game + 40$ season pass) that retails for 90 for 53 bucks.

http://www.dealzon.com/deals/batman-arkham-knight#batman-arkham-knight-premium-edition

Had a co-worker use it this morning, still valid, and we've both already redeemed on steam and pre-loaded.

Right now it's sitting at a 90/100 on Metacritic.

Yeah, apparently everyone is just kind of ignoring Origins and considering this the third entry in the trilogy.

Origins was actually a prequel, so that makes it even easier to ignore.

I also noticed, if you use my referral link for Green Man we both get 2 bucks to spend on their site (they're often the cheapest place for new/preorder steam games, and have frequent coupons). So, here's that too.

There were bugs in Origins that got patched over time but it was a good game. I had a lot of fun with it.

I actually enjoyed Origins more than Arkham City (once the bugs were patched).

This is basically a steaming pile of bullshit.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2015/06/22/pc-version-of-batman-arkham-knight-is-hot-garbage-amd-and-nvidia-users-both-unhappy/

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-06-23-rocksteady-and-external-pc-development-partner-investigating-batman-arkham-knight-performance-issues

Apparently the PC port was farmed out to a 12 person team company named "Iron Galaxy Studios", who have done almost entirely Console ports of PC games up until this point (barring Arkham Origins, from their Wikipedia page.)

On my pretty top end gaming machine, I'm seeing some crap performance. Just sad, sad stuff.

Let's hope they get it patched quickly and effectively. Still, Warner Bros has definitely proven over and over in the past that they just **** suck at taking care of the PC community. I had no plans to pick up this game and only snagged it after the excellent reviews. Come to find out, WB did not release any PC versions FOR reviews, as well as updating the PC requirements the day before release. Just really shady all around. /sigh

At the end of the day it probably just means that you wait for a couple of weeks while they patch out the garbage, and you end up with the ultimately better product than anyone on a console will get.

True. It's just unfortunate that after all the highly publicized buggy game launches (Looking at you AC:Unity and Mortal Kombat X) a publisher would still try to hide their **** with shenanigans. Very disappointing.

This is some beautiful stuff here:
Quote:
OS: Win 7 SP1, Win 8.1 (64-bit Operating System Required)
Processor: Intel Core i7-3770, 3.4 GHz | AMD FX-8350, 4.0 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 - 3 GB Memory Recommended
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 55 GB available space

Recommended Hardware Specs
(or equivalent)
Resolution: 1920x1080
V-Sync: On
Anti-Aliasing: On
Texture Resolution: Normal
Shadow Quality: Normal
Level of Detail: Normal
Interactive Smoke/Fog: Off
Interactive Paper Debris: Off
Enhanced Rain: Off
Enhanced Light Shafts: Off

Expected: 30fps (capped)

Yeahhh, I feel like the game might need some optimization? An i7 with a 760GTX so it can run 1080P with all the effects turned off? At 30FPS?

Another Gem:

OK, I am about 25% into this game now. I know I am no where near the end but the trauma it caused me made me stop playing. I need a day to digest.

Good game, but the performance issues have made me shelve it for now. Outdoors stuff is unplayable, especially if those tanks show up.

Yeah, after the first patch (which fixed disabling motion blur in the INI file) and turning off the crap in game AA (which is apparently also bugged) and forcing ATI's native AA through their control panel, it runs much better. I hate motion blur, ugh.

It's still needs a lot of work, but on my (reasonably powerful) system, it's playable now.

I am at 97%. I only have a few more things to do for the Riddler, the cock. I got frustrated and triggered the ending...

This is by far the best of the Arkham games.

Agreed, and definitely agreed that the Riddler is a dick. I didn't mind any of the other sidequests, although near the end where I was just flying/driving around the city trying to trigger the few remaining, it got a little tedious.

Still, overall amazing piece of work, and incredible that its taken them this long (and longer) to get the technical issues fixed on PC.

New Game + is touch harder than it was in the other games. I find myself getting my *** kicked a lot more. BUT I don't have to do all the Riddler trophies and riddles again.

Nice! I'm waiting until they release the PC patch to check it out. But I'm glad I don't have to track down 300 more trophies.
