Yay!

Exiting the academic sector for the private (government contractor) sector means a generous pay bump (also aided by a step up in title and -- probably, assuming I actually start figuring out exactly what variety of hats they'll be having me wear -- responsibilities), but a drastic cut in PTO (from ridiculous to merely fairly standard). Ah, well. I'm in my second week, and everybody's been cool so far, and I think I might be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to new-hire bureaucratic red tape and the variety of account and ID creations...

I drive the opposite direction, now, and it's a 35 minute commute instead of a 15 minute one. Tolerable; I've taken up podcasts instead of live radio, and it's working out nicely.
