I don't know what you old farts are talking about, the new Jungle Book looks pretty badass. Hand-drawn is okay but meticulously crafted 3D animation is not? Get outta here. Every single animal looked amazing.

I'm a 27 year old in a 61 year old's body. I thought it looked cool. I love the Disney movies, animated or live action! :D

1. Marvel, Star Wars, the Pirates franchise, etc. etc. etc. Hell, even animated - Big Hero 6? Wreck-it Ralph? Every Pixar movie ever made? They make lots of movies for you.
2. The secret to not getting old is to remain immature. (Says the woman going to Walt Disney World in a few days.)

I don't see the Marvel movies or Star Wars as Disney movies. Sure, they are writing the checks now but that is how they got them in the first place. I've yet to see Big Hero 6... Guess I was just feeling bitter and old. My baby is going to be 17 tomorrow.....

For me, CGI is fine, if I don't notice it. You either need to nail it, or not try, like hand drawn art. For me anyway, if it's close, but a bit off, it bugs me. If it's not close, I'm fine.

Nicely done.

Of course, no one can make Shere Khan and Mowgli as badass as in the Fables comics. (Which are pretty clearly an inspiration for OUAT, as ABC had the rights to Fables at one time.)

The LA Times coiuldn't stop gushing about it in two articles today. Prior to this, I had no urge to see it, now I"m a bit intrigued. (It's so funny to think of the director as the rich boyfriend in Cheers who decided to take up "Ultimate Fighting.")

I am looking forward to seeing The Jungle Book. Because Scarlett Johansson and Idris Elba. The rest is unimportant.

So, this was freaking spectacular.

Spoiler:
I was the only one in the theatre laughing out loud, however, when Mowgli rang the cowbell to summon King Louie.

While Robin Colcord may be the first thing I knew him as, to me he will always be the Sheriff of Rottingham.

Edit: Wait a minute. Cheers? I think he means Friends. Roger Rees died last year.

Right. And wrote Swingers, too (which I've never seen).

OK, sorry for the derail.

Movies directed by Jon Favreau (all 8 of them) average 78% on RottenTomatoes, with a pair of 90s (Iron Man 93%, The Jungle Book 95%), and one rotten rating at 44% (Cowboys & Aliens -- which I kindof enjoyed anyway.)

I haven't watched 4 of the 8.

Ditto, on all counts.

I saw this yesterday and thought it was pretty great. Walken as King Louis was outstanding.

The exception;
Spoiler:
The scene with Mowgli riding down the river on Baloo's belly singing 'Bear Necessities' was a little uncomfortable. It seems like that should have been an epic scene, and it just wasn't. Mowgli's singing was just too... .forced? Or something.

Speaking of live-action Disney remakes, I watched Maleficent over the weekend and enjoyed the hell out of it.

I should rewatch it. I saw it in theatres and enjoyed it at the time, but it didn't age well in my head.

Rrrrr. The unyielding critical acclaim is wearing down my apathy toward The Jungle Book. Gonna try to see it over the weekend or something.

Enjoyed Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella, though not nearly as much as Maleficent.

Not that I want to discourage you from seeing The Jungle Book (because it's spectacular), but the fact that you like Maleficent more than Cinderella should be a warning that critical opinion should probably not influence your movie decisions.
