Hrmmm. I dunno buddy. Maybe ask someone on this one.
If I'm not hungry and I skip a meal, my blood sugar does wacky things and I get sick later.
Better to eat something, even a small something (pref. a protein) to prevent dramatic fluctuations in sugar levels from going several hours without eating.

Was part of a program I went through. Lost about 30 pounds on it. The jist of it is eat when you're hungry, eat slowly enough when you do so you fill up, and cut way back on sugar. If you get hungry when you can't eat, right, eat a little protein very slowly.

It worked for me, pretty well. I need to get back to it.

The trick is to not get hungry. One of the more successful diabetic diets encourages six relatively small meals a day. Keeps your blood sugar even, you aren't hungry, you don't go off the deep-end for the triple fudge brownie ala mode.

So, LadyKate is right, don't skip meals. Plan your meals throughout the day so that you have sustenance to keep you going, not to get you full, but to, well, sustain you.

The brownie before bed? Bad idea. If you're going to eat before bed, and really, you shouldn't, have something natural. A few grapes, a banana, even some warm milk, and no I don't know why warm makes a difference. That's white milk, no chocolate added. Or combine the two somehow, a cup of skim milk and a medium banana make a low cal smoothie most folks like.

Well it was not really 'before bed' so much as the last thing I ate. I do not go to bed until close to 2am or 3am every night. Brownie time was around 8pm.

And I wish I could have a glass of milk. I love milk.. it however wants me to DIAF.

I am sincerely hoping that I do not have the condition. One of my vices is that every now and then I like to sip on some brandy or have a few 7&7s... and I believe that is a BIG nono.

oh and before I forget...

Day 3:

Breakfast was:
6 Jimmy Dean Sausage links wrapped in a tortilla with melted cheddar cheese.
A single cup of coffee light milk, no sugar.

Lunch:
A Bowl of Progresso Heart Healthy Clam Chowder
1 Liters of water

Dinner:
Leftover pasta from last night
1/2 Qt Crystal Light Peach tea

Miscellaneous munchies throughout the day (not all at once):

1 liter of water
Handful of banana chips
16 oz Diet Pepsi
1 fun size butterfinger
1 reece's peanut butter cup

There is a word for a diabetic who regularly has a few.

Corpse.

One, once in a while, will not kill you. Several in one evening may.

A friend of mine thought he was being cute by putting diet coke in his rum and cokes. He just didn't take it seriously. He left behind a wife and daughter.

Talk to your doctor.

Beware of the heat. Seriously talk to your doctor about it when your town gets over 100F for days or weeks at a time. Heat can raise the blood sugar dangerously. Heat means you aren't moving around all that much, aren't burning the sugar out. Heat waves kill unwise diabetics regularly.

by every now and then I mean the following...

it took me 3 years to drink 1/4 of a bottle of Seagrams 7. And then.. I did not finish it; we had a halloween party 2 years ago, and when I went to have one a week later I was told the party goers drank it.

And I have had a bottle of Absinthe for close to a year now; and I have had 3 shots of it in that time.

Moose and I did all the partying when we were young. I have not been able to drink like we used to in almost 8 years.

As far as talking to my doctor.. I will be spending the morning with my Healthcare provider tomorrow figuring out who my PCP is. :)

Thanks for the link! I found that very interesting. I get sick every summer b/c of the heat and have to stay indoors over 90% of the time. I have learned only by experience that if I am feeling dizzy, nauseous, and weak with heart palpitations that I am probably too hot. I can't tell on my own, I have to ask people "is it warm in here to you?"
Maybe I should be rechecked as well. Its been awhile.

Caffeine withdrawal headache, makes me terminally irritated with people too. Scares people. Everyone knows I'm the nice guy; when I look like I want to kill someone people believe it.

You'll get used to the no caffeine thing. It sucks big time. I used to drink Dew, Bawls and especially Surge in high school in massive quantities. Exercise and a diet helps immensely.

Good luck man, hope it works out.

If you switch from coffee to tea, it will make getting over caffeine a lot easier.

yesterday would be a bad day to judge how I felt. I slept for only 3 hours yesterday. I felt decent despite that though.

And it's an energy drink.

I think it featured prominently in a few games, when I was around high-school age.
