Exciting roster.

I caught Storm, Cyclops, Archangel, Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Caliban, and Jean as new entries to the First Class timeline/cast. And all surviving First Classers returning except for Hughverine.

Not bad. I'm a bit perplexed at seeing Hank both blue and not, though. Not sure where they're going with that. McAvoy looks good as bald Xavier. I'm also impressed that they're doing 80's mohawk Storm and keeping Jubilee's 80's-licious signature elements, while grounding both to not be jokes and fit in well here.

Storm, Magneto, and Archangel as 3 of the 4 horsemen. Nice choices. I can't figure out who the other woman is, though, that they show between Warren and Erik when doing the initial horsemen reveal. Anybody have an idea or a guess? Okay, nevermind. Cheating with IMDB, I recognize Olivia Munn, now, so that's Psylocke. Duh, the pink lighting was supposed to clue us in.

I don't know that I dig it. I'm not really sure you have a good fit for each of the four horsemen with that roster. I guess Magneto or Archangel could be a decent War. Psylocke and Archangel actually were Death, which poses its own problems.

I don't dig it.

But this is the problem with the X-Men franchise. Everything has to be retcon because the last story didn't leave you with a good way to start a new story, and eventually the all of the retcon becomes bloated and hard to keep track of. You're then left with the reality that different fans like different combinations of retcon, and nobody likes your new story.

I think Apocalypse and the Horsemen are exciting. Once that wears off, we'll be left with, "WTF is this ****?" Kinda like X-Men 3. It will bomb for similar reasons, too. X-Men 3 lost several actors. X-Men Apocalypse is going to be hobbled by not having great choices for the Horsemen because these are the only characters they've got the rights to.

It's the first trailer to make me interested in an X-men film in a long time, 3 was so terrible it took forever to get the taste out of my mouth.

I don't think they'll manage to pull it off, but still, great trailer. The reveal of bald Xavier was excellent.

I'm calling it. Storm is Famine, Archangel is Plague, Magneto is War, and Psylocke is Death.

Who better than a weather goddess to bring famine? Angel has had some healing power more recently, even though he is canonically Death, so subverting that to make him Plague makes sense to me. Magneto's entire philosophical schtick is war on humanity, so I agree, he's a shoe-in for War.

X-Men: First Class was fantastic, and Days of Future Past was much weaker but not bad, and cleaned up the timeline (basically eliminating The Last Stand [and maybe X-Men Origins?] from existence), as Fox seemed to finally figure out that audiences expect a cohesive universe for their superhero stuff, hence the soft reboot. This trailer definitely piqued my interest, though I prefer my Apocalypse bigger and much more arch (think the animated series version), despite quite liking Oscar Isaac. Also, he kinda looks like a lost Power Rangers villain here.

Goddamn **** Jubilee. Sigh.

DEADPOOL 2nd red band Christmas day trailer!

It just looks like they really nailed the tone of this one. Hoping for a huge opening (assuming, ya know, it's good) so hollywood sees there's a market for more graphic comic films. The comic generation is old enough to sustain an R-rated market too.

Merry Christmas, to all of us!

(Here's the green band version they released today as well, to nail down the Christmas theme)

Not an official Marvel thing, but neat:

Of course, there appears to be joy and heart in it, so I'm sure Fox will be right over to crush it.

Wow, really cool. Subscribed to his youtube channel, we'll see how long it lasts before Fox destroys it. Will it be Buffy midnight movie sing-along crushed, or Firefly nuked from orbit?

Not much of a trailer again but now that I think about it, they didn't show much before season one. I am just surprised it is coming so fast.

They're launching it the same day as Batman v Superman. After Marvel laid claim to BvS's original premiere date and DC lost that game of chicken, I can't help but think at this point Marvel is just straight-up **** with them. :D

Looks like they thought better of it, Daredevil is dropping the week before on March 18th now. Wonder who took that angry phonecall.

And.... Deadpool is officially R.

Quote:
"As reported on Box Office Mojo, Deadpool has been rated R for “strong violence and language throughout, sexual content and graphic nudity.”

Sounds like they're sticking pretty close to the source material on this one.

There was zero chance that Deadpool wouldn't be rated R. The first real trailer was red-band, lol.

True, but it's always nice to get confirmation. Can you imagine at this point if they had just been forced to cut it to PG-13? The backlash would've been amazing.

My dreams of a frothing mob storming the Fox headquarters and pulling under every executive they could find are dashed.

My seething need for revenge over Firefly will just have to wait longer, I suppose.

A pity, really. Because if there's any fans unhinged and desensitized enough to violence to exact justice for the crew of the Serenity, it was Deadpool fans.

Well, or Punisher fans, but that ship sailed when they ceded him back to Marvel.

20th Century Fox /= 20th Television.

Lynch the latter for Firefly. Lynch the former for X-Men: The Last Stand.
