I feel the songs chosen for the games' trailers are sort of the official themes - but they're not the ones that have ended up as the "most associated with" tunes in my mind. So I'm wondering how others feel, having played the games and presumably listened to the radio stations.
For Fallout 3, the selected track "I don't want to set the world on fire" is a really great mood-setter but managed to get edged out by two others. My top pick is "Way back home". It's possible the song came on just as I was doing something particularly appropriate, like discovering the secret of Vault 112 or finding Little Lamplight. However it happened, the fact is that whenever I think about FO3, that's the first song that comes to mind. Runner-up is "A wonderful guy". The opening line ("I'm as corny in Kansas in August") grabbed my attention and my funny bone, and it just stuck.
For New Vegas, I actually had to go look up the trailer to learn they went with "Jingle Jangle Jingle" and frankly, that one just never worked for me. There was really only one song that clicked in my mind - "Ain't that a kick in the head". Every other song from this soundtrack just fades right out of my memories.
For Fallout 4, "It's all over but the crying" similarly doesn't do it for me. Instead, what stands out in my mind is "The end of the world", with "It's a man" coming in second place.
How about you guys?
