She's looking pretty steady tonight. I expect good news in the next 1-8 days.

$100,010,956

That's the current "Funds Raised" on the stretch goals page.

Over 100 million bucks, crowd funded.

That is just insane.

Grouse and I were having some issues last night mainly related to trying to get into the same instance. But we made it. Unshielded ships seem pretty fragile right now so we blew up th Gladiator twice before switching to the cutlass and were actually able to get a com array reset. The RIO seat wasn't working or grouse couldn't find the access point he said he kept going back to the turret. I'm pleased with the current set up and I'm looking forward to them attaching extra gameplay to the existing skeleton.

Yeah, I think the Cutlass doesn't yet have a functioning turret.

I'll be back on in a bit after breakfast, and up for trying to get in the same instance.

Connection issues galore last night. Couldn't connect for the first six tries. Then I finally got in, called a ghost, sat in it (superf'ingcool) and game crashed.

Rane: https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.c ... crashes/p1 follow those directions except you'd create your user.cfg in the public directory instead of the test/

Grouse and I got to tear it up for a few minutes. We went to to the security station, tangled with a constellation. I was hammering it with the CF117s and the shields were just eating it up, Grouse is still getting used to the 2.0 controls and forgot to take himself out of landing mode so he could launch rockets or things might have gone better.

I think the connie just laughed at me then turned its fire on us and blew us to pieces. We decided to go back and try again now that we knew what we were doing, but he had apparently moved on so we landed and went for a look see. We went to the top of the outpost. tangled with some machine gun toting guy who was hanging out a ledge. He got me but Grouse got him.

It's got a ways to go, but its was a great christmas present to get on with Grouse and fire some shots in anger.

Nice, Rori! I'd gotten the impression that intentionally joining instances with friends want really possible, yet, is that wrong? Did you do anything specific to get in with Grouse?

Yeah I need to link that article too. It's not easy because they aren't holding spaces for friends yet

Basically it involves every one spawning into their hangars, making a party and keep trying until you get an open slot. I'll find the forum post later.

Join server with a friend
Especially if you want to join a server with a friend, the risk is high that at least one of you will get the 'Server full'-message and cannot join anymore.

We did it always like this:
1. Join the hangar
2. Make a party: 'F11', then 'Alt'+'Space', then invite your friends to a party (I don't know if this has an impact, but we always did this)
3. Go to the elevator
4. The first one of you selects 'Port Olisar'
5. After he is in the loading screen, everyone else will see his server in the elevator. Join now.
6. If it fails to join. Try it again (see workaround 'join a server')

Its still taking several tries because the server is not saving spots for your friends like the Arc Corp servers are.

And now, I'm downloading the 2.1b patch on the PTU.

Should be able to try out the Freelancer tomorrow.

Everyone received PTU 2.1 invites. It says they felt it wasn't quite ready for live with them leaving for the next several days. After launching three sites yesterday and feeling like it's going to come back and bite me, I feel where they are coming from.

I was mucking around a bit last night in 2.1.1. Some highlights and some adcvice:

Landing on the dark side of an asteroid in the belt around Yela. Got to try this in the Hornet Ghost. Great place to land an set an ambush.

Don't shoot your ship with a sub-machine gun on the security station. I was able to see the damage skin on the Gladius briefly.... before I blew it up. That was my ride home!

Don't open the cockpit while you are in Quantum travel. It's entertaining and pretty but short lived.

I haven't had much time with it, but what I have experienced gives me great hope for the end product. Until I reigned them in (lesson in reputation building and destroying), my sons were pressing the envelope of just exactly what you could steal or blow up. Natural pirates, apparently. They asked good questions like, "If I stow away aboard a Constellation and the owner logs off, where will I be?" And, "If I steal someone's ship, do they get a new one?"

Lol.

We should probably test the former sometime, just to sate some curiosity.

I'm current on my patching as of the weekend, and actually got a bit of time to log in, for once. I flew my Gladius, Scythe, M50, and Vanguard to get a feel for the most recent flight model tweaking, and was pretty pleased for the most part. The EVA physics/control scheme are annoying, in the meantime, but I also wandered around the Covalex Shipping Hub and activated a couple satellites.

I keep maintaining that I would definitely like to get some grouping going, but I'm happy holding off 'till we see a little bit smoother user experience with grouping, still.

I keep getting an uncontrolled spin in EVA. Not sure if it's my gamepad, or something else going on. hard to go in the right direction when you are trying to counter a roll at the same time.

That's probably a residual input from your joystick right as you're switching to K/M, and then just good ol' Newtonian momentum. Took me a bit to figure that out, but basically if my centering wasn't lined up perfectly with my calibration, after I take my hand off my stick but before I move the mouse to get the game to essentially "mute" joystick input while the mouse is active, it was putting just a little bit of roll in.

You can arrest that momentum with 'q' and 'e', which are the keyboard roll inputs.
