[qiote]disappointed with the way the Mass Effect follow-ups integrated (or failed to) the events of his previous plays,[/quote]

Its likely this. ;)

Which could still bear some elaboration, since, as I said, I haven't played it.

The integration was disappointing and has soured me on anything else claiming to be epic, continual and genuinely impacted by choice.

Fair enough, I suppose. I'm optimistic, as the Banner Saga was written with the intent to carry saves over between its three planned parts from the beginning (and funded all at the same time).

As was Mass Effect :P They just had much more money and many more employees, and still screwed the pooch.

I loved the first two mass effect games.

I didn't play the third. What I read online about the endings ensured I never would.

Mass Effect was plagued by other problems that caused the developers to drop the ball on integration of your choices into the overarching story. Having played it I can see how the experience would sour someone on video game saga that claimed to track your decisions across multiple installments and branch the story appropriately.

You would need to ensure that the story and design teams stay largely consistent through the entire project which is a shaky proposition in any game studio.

There are mods to make the a good ending to the series (as well as make Ash run around in lingerie). Highly recommended.

For me, Ash was always radioactive ash after Virmire.

You spelled Kaiden wrong.

You spelled Kaiden wrong.
Never.

For several reasons. In ascending order of importance:
1. Kaiden was Carth Onasi. Raf Sbarge always does a great job voicing characters.
2. Kaiden would sleep with my Shepard. Ash wouldn't. (Although Liara always ended up being my choice.)
3. Ash was a racist redneckish type who I generally disagreed with on everything.
4. Most importantly: I always played a pure soldier Shepard, never any biotics or tech stuff. This made Ash a bit redundant, on missions, while kaiden was very useful.

Doesn't make him any less of an annoying twit ;)
Ash wouldn't bang my Shepard either, but Liara would. Dirty blue girl she is.
Kaidan was a whiny twit that usually clashed with the Renegade Shep I played.
Wrex and Taly were my party. They supported my sniper builds very well.

Ash must die because she's willing to shoot Wrex. I don't want to live in that universe.

Kaidan was a nutless, whiny boy scout. He makes Jacob look like less of a tool, which is saying something.

Ash has more balls than Wrex. Heck, when you take her on a date, she gets drunk and starts a fight. Ash can sleep with Shepherd, but only in ME3.

She's not racist either. She just distrusts people she has little (or bad) experience with. She called the Terra Firma group (who are actual xenophobes) "jackals" and took umbrage at the comparison of her to them, lamenting that group's original ideology being replaced with an anti-alien platform. She also enthusiastically volunteers to accompany Major Kirrahe on Virmire. She greatly respects Grunt and says she thinks of Tali as a little sister
Spoiler:
if you ever do a playthrough in ME3 where Tali's story goes sideways and she kills herself.

Sooo, anyways...

How about this beautiful game called The Banner Saga? The sequel comes with 100% more centaur!

In ME1, mine were generally Liara and Tali, actually. They provided lots of neat abilities while I "simply walked into Mordor" with heavy armor and an assault rifle.

First thought: When does this come out?
Second thought: Oh, ****. They just invited the bronies.

Lol. They haven't committed to a date, but it's supposed to be imminent.

Which is to say, the roughly weekly character art releases are the pre-release publicity hype, and back around Thanksgiving they were saying it'd be out this winter.
