My washing machine needed repairing, so I needed parts quickly. My local appliance supplier didn't have the parts in stock, and was extremely overpriced compared to anything I found online. So I look it up on Sears, and they are "in stock" at a reasonable price. I order them and select 3 day shipping, so I can get it fixed ASAP. This was Tuesday. I checked my order Wednesday at noon, and both items are listed as "backordered by our supplier". WTF?

So, I call up Sears and tell the guy it negates me ordering rush shipment and paying $25 extra for the quick delivery. He agrees to refund the shipping and then asks me what I want to do about the order. I tell him since it is telling me it's back ordered, that I would want to cancel the order altogether because I needed the parts quickly. He tells me the parts are out of stock (and I explained their site says they are "in stock", even as I am speaking with him). He says the order will be canceled and my credit card will be credited the full amount. End of discussion.

I then go online and find the parts elsewhere and order them.

Friday arrives, and I find a package on my step. It's from Sears. 20 minutes later, I find 2 packages from the other store I ordered.

Now I have a fookin' box of useless parts from Sears I don't need, that I canceled. I'm not sure if my card has been charged or not, and will have to check the statement when it comes. I have to get labels and send this $hit back to Sears, and will have to get on the fookin phone I suppose and try to wade through the idiots to get this sorted out. I have a bad feeling I am going to end up with a fight to make sure I do not get charged shipping fees.

This is a prime example of why Sears is going down the tubes. POS company that was once a mainstay for me, now can't get their **** together. Show a part in stock, then tell me it's back ordered, then tell me it's canceled, then deliver it to me anyways.

DIAF

No. Apparently I can only return it to a "service center" store or some such BS, where they carry said items in stock, which is nowhere near me. At one time, they had these stores all over the place and carried stock. Now they have only certain locations from which I suppose they ship across the country, and only they can receive the item by hand. Side note: I got the second item today, almost a full week after cancel.

How can a place advertise they have something in stock, take payment, then tell the customer it's "on backorder", then admit the item is "out of stock" on the phone and say they are canceling the order and refunding charges, only to then ship said items after the fact? Sleazy mofos.

This has happened to me a few times when ordering bike parts and components online.

Its usually a situation where the online store is selling items that are drop shipped from a third party, and they are not getting accurate inventory data from said third party.

Not much you can do about it except leave negative feedback take your shopping elsewhere.

If they didn't charge you, drop the parts in the store. "They're your problem now".

If they did, dispute the charge with your credit card company, and request s return shipping label from Sears.
