Much <3 for Kate McKinnon. Holtzmann already is my favorite new 'Buster.

I was worried how they were going to spin a new version of it, and I was convinced it was going to suck with the OG(B)s not there. The trailer has actually given me pause, and I look forward to it.

I watched Paul Feig's The Heat was was pretty "meh" on it. I watched Spy, however, and laughed my *** off. I think Ghostbusters will follow the Spy formula more closely (that is to say, play it straighter), and will be more successful for it.

I think the fan-cut trailer works better than the official one, but only because it A) actually teases vs. showing, and B) uses the iconic theme to great effect.

The bottom line though is that I'm incredibly excited to see it. I like Wiig, I like McKinnon, I like McCarthy (when she's able to shine, as opposed to being stuck playing "female Chris Farley", which was another reason Spy was so good). I don't know any of Leslie Jones' previous work, as I don't watch modern SNL. This made me happy, though. And I absolutely love the design of the movie, the ghosts, and the production.

The conditional has thus been resolved.

Filthy misogynist. They're Strong Independent Womyn smashing the Patriarchy. You're required to love the movie.

No, no. By making them female action heros, you're obviously trying to turn them into men and saying that a woman only has value when she turns herself into a man.

Remember, no matter what position you take, it's sexist and misogynist. Pig.

The Euro trailer looks way better than the US ones. Neither US one made me want to see it and you would be hard pressed to find a bigger Ghostbusters fan than I.

Really, really enjoyed this. It was great fun, even if it feels like there's probably a more complete film sitting around some editor's station somewhere. If it doesn't hold the place in my heart that the original does, that's to be expected, as virtually nothing else could. But I thought it was a blast, and beautiful to boot (I seriously adore the ghost effects and bold colors of the cinematography). The performances were strong all the way around, but Kate McKinnon in particular is a **** superstar. It was fun, funny, silly and creepy, just like a Ghostbusters film should be.

The best part though was finding out while exiting the theater that it connected with my wife on the same cellular level that the original connected with me. As soon as the credits rolled, she tried to get me to go immediately buy tickets for the next showing (I didn't, as we both had work today...but we are going again on Saturday). Pokémon has been her biggest thrill since she was a kid, and Pokémon Go was a life's goal for her. She's planned a cross-country trip with her friends, meticulously planned her trainer outfit, the whole nine yards.

Upon exiting the theater, she said "Well...****. Now I don't know if I want to be a Pokémon trainer or a Ghostbuster."

My suggestion was "Be a Pokémon trainer who defeats Ghost and Dark types."
