Wondering if the brief insert in this week's Agents of Shield ("Peggy Carter Dead at 95") was meant to reflect this:

http://thenerdybird.com/abc-decides-can ... nt-carter/

Peggy Carter cancelled. :-(

not happy. Hayley Atwell was incredibly watchable.

They lost me this year. It was a little too far outside of the box for me.

Sharon's probably going to see some increased role in present-day MCU, and having two concurrently running Agent Carters is confusing. That's my call.

Hayley Atwell just got a bigger gig than the half-season Agent Carter series.

With ABC moving her to a full time gig as the main character on Conviction, they pretty much had no choice but to cancel Agent Carter.

It was also in Captain America Civil War, and probably there long before they knew they were cancelling Agent Carter.

Why does 2016 keep taking things I love? News even broke about Disney Infinity on my birthday. :(

At least Supergirl, while not as good as Agent Carter, got a new season pickup (albeit one with a budget cut not that you'd be able to tell from their season 1 special effects heyyoooo).

Also, mercifully, ABC also pre-cancelled Marvel's Most Wanted, that oft-spoken-of Agents of SHIELD spinoff starring Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood (who were apparently on AoS, but I've paid so little attention to AoS that I have no idea what characters they are).

Adrianne Palicki needs to come back to AOS then. Because she's awesome as Mockingbird.

If they bring Mockingbird back, they need to kill off May.

So I took in Cap 3. It was good, I liked it. That being said, after about 30 seconds of the new Peter Parker, I was in love. I can not wait to see what they do with him.

Spidey was great, but Black Panther was the big winner in Cap3. I didn't give a flying **** about Black Panther before this movie. Now it's the stand-alone movie I'm looking forward to second-most (after GotG Vol.2)

Marvel's been exceedingly good at making me care about characters on which I was previously ambivalent. I mean, given that they started this whole enterprise armed only with their B- and C-listers left in their stock, I guess they have to be. But still. Daredevil, Thor, Black Panther, Jessica Jones, Ant-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Hulk (OK, admittedly, they're still working on the Hulk) were afterthoughts (if that) to me before. Hell, I've even grown to like Hawkeye and Black Widow, though that's A) far more recent and B) they're still working on them, too (Ultron went a long way to making me care about Hawkeye, and I still don't really have any interest in Black Widow, but I love her movie friendship with Cap.

This may have been an "advantage" for them, of sorts.

When you make a Batman movie, or Superman movie, millions of people will go see it regardless of quality. And when the quality is garbage, you will have foisted very expensive and valuable crap on your audiences, who will complain loudly, but I suppose you can still make your profit. This loses you the goodwill of the audience who then are far more reluctant to see the rest of the franchise you want to build.

But here's the hard part -- if you make a good --or even great movie, in all respects, but somehow get the details of the characters that everybody knows so well wrong in ways they do not find forgivable, you will find the results no different than if you made a crappy movie. People will complain just as loudly, and in the end, the goodwill you need will be lost.

Okay, cut to Marvel. Marvel has been playing with characters that for the most part, we did not give a **** about beforehand. They have a great deal of leeway when it comes to making changes that we simply don't mind. I'm sure there are purists somewhere for whom Tony Stark and Bruce Banner being responsible for the making of Ultron is unforgivable, but even when we knew it was a change, we ultimately barely cared.

All Marvel has to do is make a good movie. They don't need to pay close attention to the integrity of how closely it followed the source material (if there were previous die-hard fans of Guardians of the Galaxy, I strongly suspect they went apoplectic when they saw the movie) to keep us interested. Their Cinematic Universe needs only be consistent with itself. The fact that they have so far remained relatively true to the source material is a credit to them, but the ability to deviate as required in the interest of making a good movie, without angering your audience, is quite useful.

Uh, hi. And speak for yourself. (It's a reasonable decision when you're writing Pym out of the universe entirely, but when Doctor Hubris shows up the very same year in his own title -- even if it's not him wearing his suit -- you've just blown your chance to use him in a broader context. But that's going off on a tangent.)

I'm really looking forward to Iron Fist, which is, for me, the poster child of Marvel doing what you're describing in print. I knew nothing about the character, and cared nothing for the 70's kung fu movie tropes upon which he was founded, but I liked Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction's work elsewhere, so I gave it a shot when Marvel gave them an Iron Fist miniseries. And they knocked it out of the park, and now the Iron Fist Netflix show is my most anticipated Marvel live action thing until we get to Infinity Gauntlet or Iron Man IV.

So, yeah. My hope is definitely that Iron Fist is the next C-lister they pull out of their hat and make the general public fall in love with.

You meant Iron Fist, right? They've already done that for Iron Man. :D

I, too, cared little about Iron Fist, but am now stoked for the Netflix version. 20 years ago I wanted nothing to do with the mystical or cosmic side of Marvel. But after the deluge of movies that were the normal superhero stuff, I am liking the idea of seeing those other sides to their universe. GotG (and to a lesser extent, Thor) was a great way to begin introducing the cosmic side to the masses and they have accepted it. I have high hopes for Dr. Strange and Iron Fist doing the same with the mystical side.

Thor: Ragnarok looks like it might be awesome.

Apart from the usual Asgardians, it includes:

Mark Ruffalo - Bruce Banner (In a major starring role, possibly integrating some of the "Planet Hulk" plot into this)
Cate Blanchett - Hela (Evil Galadriel has come!)
Karl Urban - Skurge the Executioner (Karl Urban's great in everything)
Jeff Goldblum - The Grandmaster (The Grandmaster is watching you poop?)
Tessa Thompson - Valkyrie (Veronica Mars fans will recognize Tessa. And probably, like me, go "meh.")

It's okay. It ties in heavily to the infinity war buildup for Avengers 3 & 4.

Lousy villain, though.

Since the "effort to find it" is nonexistent on several fronts, I'd say yes. Netflix has every Disney movie streaming.

Also, it's not streaming U.S. yet, no Thor the dark world on netflix for us. :( However, there is one called "Thor, the hammer of the gods", a made for TV syfy movie. One Star!
