Might have time to play over the weekend. Will there still be any fun to be had doing Cadwell's Silver stuff with the elimination of VR's?

Also, are there still good times to be had if I don't get any DLC's?

If you like doing solo stuff, sure, that's still pretty cool.

If you like PVP it's still all there. Except for the 2 newest dungeons they should all be available without DLC too.

I logged in. Found I'd been kicked from every guild (no surprise) and my skill build was completely gone. I had no idea how to rebuild my skills and just gave up.

Controller support was nice though.

You got a free skill refund and you quit?

What class are you, what armor type and weapons do you like, and how many skill points do you have? I'll make you a skill build. I can get you into a chill social guild, too.

I was a dual-wield/bow stamina Nightblade wearing medium armor (I think I was working on heavy too, but don't remember). I wasn't very skilled up in Undaunted or Fighter's Guild (no idea how to effectively raise these), so I had no ultimates.

I would appreciate a build. I started looking for builds while playing but it was taking too long because all the threads I found were super old.

Edit: I think in the past I used a bow/bow build as well as bow/DW. Strictly PvE. I'm open to trying a new weapon I guess, but obviously I'd have to build the skills. I only have ultimates in NB skills.

Bows aren't really the best DPS; they're best used for utility and for when you don't want to be in close all the time.

Fighters' Guild is raised by killing bosses, basically. Lots of bosses and daedra qualify. Undaunted by completing group dungeons. I'll have a build for you shortly; my main is the same basic configuration.

Do you know how many attribute and skill points you have available at the moment?

I had enough to max out two weapon tree passives, med armor passives, and the respective skills I used, plus max cooking, a couple in alchemy and quite a few in the med/light armor crafting skill. Can't login to get an exact number for a few days.

I'll come up with something approximate.

Screeling:
Sorry it took me some time to get back to this. I've mostly been playing EVE and not on ESO a lot. I've omitted crafting skills and a tertiary weapon skill which I have; skills are given in the order they come in their list, by morph name.

Assassination:
Killer's blade. keep on your melee bar; possibly remove for pvp
Ambush: keep on your melee bar
Double Take: keep on your bow bar
Piercing mark: place on either bar when soloing; not usually useful in a group
Relentless focus: place on bow bar for pve
Incapacitating strike (ultimate): Good for PVP, possible for PVE; not very powerful but stuns and has a very low cost so you can trigger it a lot

Shadow:
Shadowy Disguise: Indispensible for PVP
Surprise attack: Excellent for PVP, possible choice for PVE as well. Works well with Shadowy Disguise
Twisting Path: Not particularly useful for stamina builds; get this later on. Either morph is really ok here
Mass Hysteria: Excellent PVP ability, as well as soloing world bosses in some cases
Dark Shades: not terribly important, but can help your tank out in PVE. I happen to like it. Other morph might be useful
Consuming Darkness (ultimate): low priority; might occasionally be necessary for some group fights

Siphoning:
Swallow Soul: Very good soling ability, especially early on but will fall behind later on
Prolonged suffering: I never use this; can probably be skipped
Debilitate: same
Siphoning attacks: Situational, but can be very useful in prolonged fights or those with resource-draining complications
Power extraction: AOE of choice for soloing due to the buff it gives you. Switch to Steel Tornado in groups
Soul Tether (ultimate): Awesome for soloing and useful in PVP due to stun

Dual Wield:
Blood Craze: I don't use this a lot, but probably better than Swallow Soul at high levels for a stam build. Other morph might be better
Rapid Strikes: Main DPS ability for PVE, strong in PVP as well.
Steel Tornado: Spin to Win. Go-to trash clearing ability in groups, potential in PVP and even soloing as well, especially if you don't have Power Extraction yet
Deadly Cloak: I'm not sure about this one. I'd class it as "situational"; it seems like there's always a better choice
Shrouded Daggers: tactical potential in PVP
Lacerate (ultimate): Weapon ultimates were just released so I haven't really used this yet. Try it out!

Bow:
Venom Arrow: All-around useful; I chose this morph for the stun; other one is a ranged execute
Endless Hail: AOE DOT; very popular although not so much my style
Magnum Shot: Valuable solo and PVP ability. Some people like the other morph because of knockback mechanics
Bombard: Very useful all around due to root effect. A bit resource-intensive
Lethal Arrow: Indispensible for ranged boss fights, good PVP choice as well
Rapid Fire: same comment about weapon ultimates

Passives: Assassination ones first, especially the one that boosts crit for every assassination ability slotted. After than, other class passives then armor then weapon

Soul: get passives at your convenience

Fighter's Guild: Work on the Flawless Dawnbreaker for the passive buff when slotted. Rearming trap is awesome, other active abilities meh
Mages' Guild: Nothing important here except persuasion. Some passives maybe later on
Undaunted: Bone Surge and Shadow Silk and the passives.

Racial: Kind of depends what race you are. Mix them in with the armor and weapon ones

Sorry, forgot about gear and champion points.

CP: Remember for %-based CP adds, you get the most bang for the buck with the first CP and it goes down.
Warrior: Steed - try to get at least 30 points in here. Spell shield and medium armor focus for your build; resistant if you plan on PVPing (remember, only other players crit you. crit resistance is wonderful in PVP, useless in PVE)
Lady: Passive unlocks here are limited use for stamina DPS, but Elemental Defender, Thick Skinned, and Hardy are all solid points investments. I'd try to get each up to at least 5% reduction
Lord: 30 points here are MANDATORY for every build ever unless you plan to exclusively solo, due to the reduction in damage taken while rezzing another player. Battle Rez is primarily a DPS responsibility, so you MUST have this. The reason I say 30 and not 10 is the bonus to magic for the revived player. If your revived player is your healer, or a magic build this is huge for them. Get 30 points, no ifs ands or buts. I would focus on Bastion and Quick Recovery to get your 30.

Thief: Tower: try to get at least 75 points here; Warlord is obviously the focus.
Lover: as many points as you can here in Mooncalf. Stay away from the magic regen (you don't need it) and the health regen (it's terrible). The heavy attack restoration one might be worth some minimal investment where the CPs give the greatest return.
Shadow: Tumbling is a good investment since you'll be using this in both PVP and PVE. get at least 10 points just to get the gold bonus. The 75-point bonus is nice but probably not worth diverting that many points from stam recovery/cost reduction in the other 2 trees

Mage: Apprentice: You can pretty much ignore this tree until they raise the CP cap. Alternately, especially if you use Relentless Focus on your bow bar (which I do) you could get 30 points in here under Elborn, Spell Erosion or Elemental Expert for the spell crit. You do want some way to use your magic resource, but do this after you have a significant investment in the other trees
Atronach: Focus on Shattering Blows here, since its useful with both your weapons. Some minimal investment in melee weapon/bow expert may be worthwhile, but taking down damage shields fast is important and valuable, especially if you PVP. The 75 point passive is the best, but don't divert from Ritual to get it.
Ritual: The best tree of all for stamina DPS. Get 30 points here before you even THINK about anything else in Mage. All 4 abilities you can put points in are good (I like precise and mighty first); no point in this tree is a waste

Gear:
There's been a huge increase recently in gear sets, both the helm-shoulder combo and regular dropped sets. I still use crafted though, in part because I like to customize how I look, and in part because you can tailor the traits.

Jewelry: I put this first because it's easy - go for an Agility set. The Stamina agility jewlery is ridiculously expensive, but health will do fine. You want to try to stay above 20K health as a general rule, so this will help; you can just put fewer points in health. You can get a full set bonus just from jewelry

Primary Set: I like Night Mother's. Now, don't get confused, there's a dropped Night Mother's and a crafted - I meant the crafted the dropped set is for stealth. Get some, but use it for stealth quests and dailys, not for fighting. The reason I like the crafted is the 5-piece bonus that penetrates armor. This allows you to use less champion points in armor reduction, make less use of Piercing Mark, and avoid the armor piercing weapons trait. In a group you may well strip armor on the mob to 0 once everyone's armor-defeating abilities add up.
Secondary set: Hunding's Rage. This is a very straightforward set with no unusual bonuses; I go 2 pieces of armor and both weapon sets in this which gives a 3-piece bonus with the bow (or a 2 hander, which I also sometimes use) and a 4-piece while dual wielding. You can use this as your main set and make Night Mother's the 3/4 piece if you'd rather; in that case you'll want more CPs in Ritual in the armor pierce, to use Piercing Mark more, or use armor piercing weapon traits (although it's probably not necessary to do all 3).

Other options: Briarheart is an awesome set if you don't mind how it looks, and if you're patient enough to get a set. It can replace either of the above. Vampire's Kiss is great for soloing and use in Maelstrom Arena (or whichever is the solo version) because it heals you a LOT on each kill. If sustain is what you need, it gives it - just be advised it's not much for DPS. Engine Guardian goes well with it if you're doing arena.
Twice-born star is also an interesting possibility that I haven't messed with. You can have 2 guardian stones, so you could use a combination of Thief (crit chance) shadow (crit damage) or Tower (max Stamina, which boosts DPS as well as sustainment) but it's a pain to craft because you need a 9-trait crafter. I am getting there, but I can't make it for every slot yet. I can make any of the others though.
Look at the new sets; there's tons of them and there may be new options I haven't looked at closely

Traits and Enchants: Stamina for Enchants, stamina recovery on Jewelry. Weapon enchants should be disease on bow and main hand, poison or stamina-sucking on the offhand. Never dual-wield with 2 of the same enchant; they won't proc right.

Weapons - If you go Night Mother's, Precise (crit) is your best bet; Decisive (ultimate gain) or Nirnhorned (weapon damage) are alternatives. Nirnhorned is expensive and less effective though. If you don't go Night Mother I recommend Sharpened.

Armor: I like Divines (boosts Mundus stone effect). Infused (increases enchant effect) is good too. Impenetrable is useful in PVP; when doing so I switch to this for legs and chest. Training and Prosperous are both terrible; the others are useful but really not what a stamina DPS actually wants, although some people swear by well-fitted in PVP.

Last, put as much as you can in Stamina for ability points; only as much in health as you need to consistently survive. 20K seems to be a common recommendation. I tend to go a tad higher than that (21-22K) because I have slow reflexes.

Do you have any recommendations for mods for ESO? I was using mods through Minion, but don't remember the site. Not sure if I should try to use Nexus instead like I do for other Elder Scrolls games.

I like Nexus just because NMM makes mod installation easy. I like to have mods to show Skyshard, Mundus stone and Lorebook locations, just to limit frustration. An inventory mod to avoid accidentally deconstructing items might be a good diea too, but I'm much less of a modder for ESO than Skyrim.

A couple other sets to strongly consider:

Velidrath - my main's current proc set. So called because it has a chance to proc three disease spores that roll out from you and hit stuff for a ton of damage. 2 pieces; the helm comes from Cradle of Shadows, the shoulders from the large chest at Undaunted turn-in enclaves. A stamina set.

Viper, Widowmaker. 5-piece sets generally similar in concept to Velidrath. Viper comes from Fungal Grotto; Widowmaker from Cradle

Selene's: Comes from Selene's web/undaunted chest. 2 pieces, another stamina proc set - except this one procs a GIGANTIC **** BEAR!!!! that comes out from you like a giant green spirit and mauls something in front of you for an amazing amount of damage. My favorite set by far! (Weirdly, the set helm itself looks like a spider, but it procs a bear. You'll get it when you do the dungeon but its still weird.)

for magic:

Grothdar: Massive fire damage 2-piece proc set

Red Mountain: 5 piece; very similar. Actually works well for stamina users too, so its in high demand and sells for a shitload of money

Iceheart and Winterborn: 2 piece and 5 piece respectively that are not proc sets, but do additional damage with cold abilities. Given the generally limited availability of cold damage, if you want a cryomancer you kind of need them. Winterborn is from Maelstrom Arena, Iceheart from Direfrost Keep.

Infernal Guardian - another fire proc set, but more like Velidrath; flings fire mortars rather than being a melee set.

Maw of the Infernal: 2 piece proc set that procs by summoning a Daedroth rather than doing direct DPS. Very entertaining!

As I've tried to get back into this, I'm slowly adjusting to the fact that I have a hard time reacquainting at such a high level player. Things are kicking my *** that probably shouldn't be. I'm considering re-rolling as a mage or a templar.

Can you describe to me in a little more detail and give me a rundown on where your build actually is at this point? I might be able to give more targeted advice instead of just a barrage of general tips.

I think mostly the problem is with so many balance changes since I left, I don't know my own skills anymore, don't have a solid ability use order, and forgot a lot about my alchemy/provisioning that I remember really helped my playing.

I re-rolled a sorc for the newbie island, mostly just to get a better handle on the basics again. It's also nice doing something completely different I guess. My intent is that when I feel a bit more confident, I will switch back to the NB and start r0xx0r1ng s0x0rs.

If you wouldn't mind point me toward a helpful guild that won't boot me for long periods of inactivity and is okay with n00b questions, that would be helpful though.

Hit me up in game. We're still Friended so you should be able to see me online. I've got just the thing.

Ah okay. I've seen a couple friends still logged in and thought about doing the "Hi! How do I know you?" routine, but then I log out like 5 minutes later to get back to studying.

I've been playing the Thieves Guild questline and honestly, things have felt like one big PITA.

First off, I was getting directed through all kinds of zones I didn't need to to reach the Thieves Guild zone. Even the teleport shrines weren't giving me the quickest route. Clicking the quest on the shrine map would take me to some zone NOT where the boat leaves for Abah's Landing (or whatever it's called). Ended up running out of play time just trying to get there the first time. I was pretty pissed.

Second, while the town is interesting, it's a friggin nightmare to navigate. See a walkway up top? Well, good luck reaching it. You need to walk two blocks down the road to find a way up there, then circle around on a weird ledge, and a few other annoyances.

Lastly, some of the missions had me in places I was trespassing. That's cool and all, but since I got up to get a drink, I didn't see a notification I was in such a zone and so I got spotted and killed because I was just walking around in the open. No HUD option I could see was telling me my trespassing status. And of course, when I finally left, I had to keep hiding because I'd racked up a bounty from that mission.

The thieve's den is kinda cool and all, but I don't understand why I have to go through two zones (the intermediate one having no other ingress/egress than the way I came in) to reach it.

Honestly, once I complete the quest line, I don't see myself ever going back. Not a fan.

I enjoyed the Thieves' Guild questline, but your criticisms are not invalid. I found the story to be far superior to the mechanics.
