There is no need for the United States to take on these masses of nearly unvetted refugees, as it works against our own national interests.
If the US is interested in a humanitarian effort, refugee camps should be built as close as possible to the countries of origion, and should be left to run by the UN.
I think it's also worth noting that the immigrants in ye olde tymes were seeking work and not just seeking a welfare state. Not all immigrants are created equal and there's no right to enter any country. If you have values that are antithetical to the US, feel free to stay where you are.
I was originally all for helping refugees, but it became apparent that it wasn't as easy as that. You have an awful lot of single men "refugees" and tales of economic refugees, not ones fleeing a war. It's complicated, and I don't see anything wrong with putting my own countrymen first. Unless you guys want to sponsor some in your house? Feel free. The UN **** the whole thing. Everything is ****, but it's not my responsibility. I already have a hard enough time feeding my own family.
