How did I miss that the director for Episode IX is the "Safety Not Guaranteed" guy?

And Jurassic World. Kind of a big jump between those two.

Ep. 8 is the Looper (and Brick, and several of the best episodes of Breaking Bad) guy.

Still haven't seen Jurassic World. And yeah, I knew 3 was Looper-dude, which will probably be fine. Especially since, as the Vanity Fair article brought to my attention, he was studying up on stuff like 12 O'Clock High and "kooky 60's samurai stuff" to prep. I'm heartened and excited that his philosophy is one of dipping back into Lucas' inspirations rather than, as Abrams seemed to do, putting an original Star Wars movie on repeat for about six months as his muse.

"The last Jedi"

Sure, like they'd kill the fatted calf by making that come true

"Jedi" can be plural.

Yoda: Luke, when gone am I, the last of the Jedi will you be.

My thinking is that the title is a riff on this quote. Maybe, at this stage (considering his implied failures, etc.) Luke wants the Jedi to just be done, but I'm guessing that that ain't happ'nin'.

Luke has correctly observed that the Jedi are the reason the Sith keep showing up. The Sith are not a separate entity within the Galaxy that the Jedi must exist to counterbalance. The Sith are a direct result of Jedi. The Jedi Code has never failed to churn out Sith in every generation. The only long-term solution is to abandon pride, do away with the Jedi Order, and therefore remove the mechanism that produces Sith.

Rey needs to be something else entirely.
