If you are a fan of God of War, you need to play this game. It surpasses GoW, in my awesome opinion. I'm about four hours deep but the story/environment/bosses are so much more interesting. How bad *** is it, playing as a horseman of the apocalypse? Very.

I've been looking forward to this game...but with Mass Effect 2 coming out later this month, my budget won't allow for another game.

I'd say between this, GoW3, and Dante's Inferno -- God of War-style fans can 't go wrong.

If I get it via Gamefly, then whee. If not, well, I have two other games to buy this month and a massive wallet-tightening.

Definitely picking this one up. It looks amazing. There is a series of youtube videos that contains gameplay and cinematic footage from first 20 minutes or so. Pretty awesome stuff.

Never played God of War (no playstation). This looks like fun though!

Picked this up yesterday. Really enjoying it so far! I love the art style in this game. The story is very interesting, so far. And the game is incredibly fun! Very happy with my purchase.

Just got to:

Spoiler:
The part where you have to take down Stygian, the giant worm -- man that part is kicking my ***

Spoiler:

And for the records, this has got to be one of the most fun games I have played in a long time. Despite a couple technical quips, this game is quality.

Spoiler:
Getting Ruin as a mount is just pure badass

To anyone who enjoyed God of War and the 3D Zeldas -- get this game!

EDIT:

Just finished it. By far one of the most fulfilling console game experiences I have ever had (and I even missed some secrets). Can't recommend this one enough.

I just passed the Stygian as well and I thought he was pretty easy - only boss that hasn't utterly destroyed me once or twice so far. Are you playing on Apocalyptic? I think that if I chose easy/normal, the game would be too much of a cakewalk.

I'm assuming after you kill the 4th chosen, that the tower is the last area? Is it a point of no return? As in, should I do all of my exploring/collecting before I go there? You beat the game pretty quickly after your encounter with the Stygian so I'm assuming that's the case.

What's your overall score of the game? I hear the ending is pretty badass.

Note to new players - I'm finding that the charge attack (Direction + RB + X) with Chaoseater is pretty OP. You can stun/knockback pretty much any enemy with it.

No, the Tower isn't the end.

Yes, Apocalyptic. Even on that setting, the game is only so-so difficult, but I found that this did not detract at all from the overall enjoyment.

What Timmit said. If you want spoilers, click below. If not, just suffice to say, the game does not end with the tower (although there's not too terribly much after it, but still some), and you do get another chance to do all the exploring you want after that. While you are in the tower, however, you want to get all of its secrets, because once you beat the boss in there and leave it you cannot go back (you may want to get a strat guide for all the secrets or look online). And the ending is not really near the Stygian worm battle -- I'd say about another 1/4 of the game left.

Spoiler:
After you beat Straga, you free Azrael and he transports you out of the tower before it tears itself apart. After that, you are taken to the Garden of Eden, which is a tiny level, but has 3 or four secrets in it (one of which is an armor fragment). After Eden, you are on the hunt for the shards of the Armageddon Blade (a la Zelda tri-force hunt) -- THAT is when you need to get all your other exploring done. Once you reforge the sword and return to Azrael, you are transported to the final boss encounter.

Overall score for me would be an easy 9.5 -- The technical/design flaws that exist in the game are almost swallowed whole by the game's sheer fun factor. Personal opinion of course. And I will agree with whomever said that the game's "borrowing" of other big games' elements should not be penalized -- if anything, they make the game that much more enjoyable. Portal fans will not be disappointed toward the end of the game :)

As for the ending, it is short (and I'm sorry to say the last boss is not that tough, just remember Ruin), but very sweet. Pretty much solidifies a sequel, which I cannot wait for.

Interesting trivia note: The Watcher is voiced by none other than Mark Hamill.
