So I am in a Random Nexus Heroic this evening and we have a Paladin healer, a Priest DPS, Warrior Tank, Mage DPS and Me (DPS).

The Tank pulls the boss in the Ice (with whirlwind attack) after the healer and mage said to hold up and not pull... And on top of not listening, he had a bunch of gear with +def and +sta.... but he held aggro about as well as my kittens. My standard DPS rotation (as shitty as my DPS is right now) was pulling aggro from him.

Then we get to some mage ***** that splits into 3 and **** up the party. Then becomes one and **** you up some more....

The Paladin died and the priest proceeds to just sit there and watch everyone wipe. When asked why she did not try healing anyone she said it was because she doesn't have dual spec and has no healing toolbars set up; because she hasn't healed in a group since she was level 20.

*blink blink*

I have saved a group from wiping in EQ by a well placed LoH on the tank. I have saved groups from wiping in WoW with a well placed "big red i win button" use, I have even prevented a group from dying on my DK when the tank dropped (in a group not a raid) by dropping DnD and throwing up frost presence. But for a PRIEST to not even try to heal and allow a wipe to occur because she does not heal in groups makes me think sometime... the players need to be punched in their mommy daddy buttons. And I do not exempt myself from that. There have been times when I have gone "oh crap" and realized I messed up and deserved to be punched right in the wang.

Yesterday our healer went linkdead on the Ice giant in Nexus. We didn't even notice. Tank burned cooldowns, and we just killed the boss.

As a paladin tank, here's what I encounter:

HoS 1st boss - everyone dies from his shatter but me and healer. We win. (No Argent Defender needed)

HoS 1st boss - everyone dies from his shatter but me and a warrior who has First Aid. We win. (No Argent Defender needed)

FoS 1st boss - I come in after 1st wipe, everyone dies but me, mainly due to the frost aura, and I am alive by the grace of Argent Defender, Lay on Hands or Bubble, and a warlock health stone. We win.

Old Kingdom - I ask to avoid optional bosses, the druid says he has the mushroom quest, we kill mushroom guy, the rogue asks if we want to try Volunteer work, I say OK because I know I'll live and I have it, rogue dies to the final AoE attack, and then realizes he needed the Respect your Elders achievement. I laugh a little. (No Argent Defender needed)

Void boss in H-VH: DK gets the phase shift and doesn't switch to adds. It's close but we win because I get shifted and do. (No Argent Defender needed)

Shadow priests can't heal very well. Although for her to *not* drop shadow and try... well. yeah. Thing about dual spec, you can't change spec mid fight. Even if you could, you'd have no mana to do anything with.

Telestra's a pain in the *** too. I hate that dirty whore.

i understand that shadow priests cannot heal very well. I also know that you cannot switch spec mid combat, that was the reasoning she gave to sit there and watch the entire group wipe without casting a single heal spell.

I blame ebay or craigs list.

And I did not mind Telestra that much, she is indeed a dirty whore, but not more than paltress was when we fought her.

****, when the healer dies, my ret paladin becomes a holy paladin. Judge, Flash, judge, Lay on hands, Holy Light, judge, repeat.

This.

I've healed through waves in HHoR when the healer died, I've healed all the way through the last boss in HPoS when the healer died... Just takes trying (and a decent tank).

I heal *too* often on my Enhancement Shaman. :( I've been healing for over 2 years now and it's hard to ignore Grid. Then when I'm at 4 or 5 stacks of Maelstrom, it's a (near) instant cast not insignificant Healing Wave or Chain Heal... very tempting sometimes.

It's the right thing to do occasionally, don't get me wrong. There was this one comedy of errors during a Beasts in ToC10 that resulted in a 12 minute fight with me as the only dps alive, with an average ilvl of about 210 on my gear. Certainly helped then when the healers for whatever reason couldn't keep people topped off. But I'm pretty sure I overdo it and I imagine I've bothered some healers thinking I didn't trust them. :(

That shadow priest definitely should've been trying. :p

It's an easier call for me as a ret paladin. If Art of War is up, i have a choice between an instant flash of light and an instant exorcism. If exo is on CD, I can let it ride or toss the heal. Basically, when you need to toss the heal, you toss the heal. Otherwise, trust your healers.

Any Priest can heal and you'd be amazed what a Shadow Priest can do, as Priest is the class least dependent on talents for healing. I've seen Shadow Priests solo heal Yogg + 1 (10 Man) and ToGC Anub'arak 10. Priest Healing talents make them better healers, but as a baseline they are superior to pretty much every other healing because they don't need talents to make them viable. Besides, a well geared Shadow Priest is going exceed 4k spellpower, have boatloads off passive MP5, and enough haste that they wouldn't have taken Divine Fury in the first place.

My Priest is already hard capped on 1 second Flash Heals and 1.6 second Greater Heals while specced Shadow.

The holy priest in my random heroic the other day got mad at me for not holding aggro on the beams in the Halls of Stone event...

There's no shortage of dumb priests in the random heroics ;)

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-shee ... n=Caribdis is the latest person I came across in the dungeon finder to be... questionable.

At the time he was wearing gray bracers.

Gray! I don't know how that even happens! I thought the guy was playing a practical joke on us.. waiting for him to equip his full 258 heroic ToC 25 set.

Alas, it never happened.

This could be fun. Let's keep a log here of the failboat passangers we run across in randoms!

I like the idea, and will try to add some oldies to the thread to get it going along.

We had a paladin failure drop from our Azjol-Nerub (regular, mid-70s) team because he died. This is with him not even bothering to -try- to heal (or, you know, tell the damn tank i.e. ME that these critters have funky aggro ****; when your MT and OT say "We've never run this instance before", it might be a good idea to assume we're not telepathic) once the healer died.

Azjol Nerub:

2 pull
3 pull - Skirmishers have weird aggro, they should die first.
3 pull x 3 - usually go left, the right comes on their own, then the middle. I forget if the middle ever comes 2nd.

Boss - pretty easy, one or two AE taunts off of healer or mage should do it.

3 pull starting event

3 pull x 2 - during the event, random little crap spiders come along at odd intervals.

Hadronox - let him kill the adds, then tank him. Don't stand in green stuff. Cleanse if you can.

Room full of crappy peons. AE or drop down past them.

2 pull - they stack a debuff - let it fade.

Anub'Arak. Not that bad. Watch for spikes in ground and if you have to choose, poison dies before melee.

Done. From memory.

I can do this for most instances pre-ICC.

Run through Anub when he starts to cast Pound! :p People that get hit by every Pound bring unnecessary tears into the world.

But yeah it's mostly those Skirmishers near the start. They randomly drop aggro, I believe. Definitely something useful to keep in mind, as they're pretty vicious if that comes by surprise.

They don't drop aggro, they'll focus on a random party member and you can't taunt off them. I always burn skirmishers down first.

Was in a PoS "random" with 4 members of a guild called crusade from Zul what ever on my Warlock. Batter hilt drops and man was I kicked so quick I could not even roll. Just a bit to anger up the blood.

That would explain the viciousness even when running with good tanks, I suppose!
