I haven't had much trouble tanking him as a paladin on 10-man, but our warrior tank just gets annihilated by him. I have to tank him up to a 9 stack of gastric bloat, bubble to remove it, and tank it for another 9 stack just for our guild to get through the fight because he seems to have to blow shield wall just to stay alive on it.

I've put together a decent tanking offspec set for running heroic instances. I'm less concerned about the actual tanking which seems pretty easy, than I am remembering where to go in the heroic instances! I'm used to following the tank not leading =p.

Wonder if there's any map addons to make it easier. Although it's probably obvious in most of em.

I'd be interested in seeing how the 2 of you are geared. I have a warrior alt that I tank icc10s with for alts and mains who couldn't make it to earlier runs. We haven't had as much time to get to Festergut yet with having to work on the new wing in 25s, but I'm hoping to get to him in the next week or 2 and wondering how I stack up.

Most of the dungeons have maps in-game now. They'll show you where you are, where the rest of your party is, and there'll be a skull on the map where each boss is.

Also, if you know the dungeon, there are some nice time saving shortcuts for dailies- you can skip 3 bosses and finish H OK in around 10 minutes, and you can cut out all but the escort and final boss in H HoS to save some of the pain of that dungeon.

It depends what you're there for, but if the group is only in it for frost, it's much better to make a short and sweet run.

Quite honestly, even if you're doing it for triumph, you are better served time wise often to finish and get your two bonus fast, even if it means skipping a few bosses (and the trash clearing up to them).

I got a mail in game yesterday from The Postmaster that said "we found these floating around the void for you" or something like that. 2 Triumph Badges were attached. Anyone else have this happen?

I've gotten items like that when the game tried to give me something but my inventory was full (like those marks from jousting at the tournament). Not sure why triumph badges would get lost like that, since they don't go in your inventory.

Is the warrior you mentioned Utard? He's geared a little better than I am, with a focus on avoidance vs my focus on effective health. You're geared more for effective health too (well, straight up health).

That may be the difference there. With avoidance nerfed so hard in Icecrown effective health is pretty important when you start getting hit as hard as Festergut hits.

Yeah, it was Utard.

We had trouble with him also on 25s Friday night even though we've beaten him before. Annoying!

We'll get him tomorrow night I'm sure but bleh.

Killed Rotface on 25 again last night. Festergut... well we got him to 10% with only 24 people since we had one DC the entire fight. I'm gonna have to review the fights on world of logs. I had a few attempts I did over 8 k and others I just cracked low 7k. I suppose it has a lot to do with positioning for spores.

Somewhat ironic... this week we skip on Festergut and instead go after Rotface in our 25s. While we can only fill 22 spots, we decide to go ahead with the plan anyway, and worst case scenario at least we all finally get experience with the fight firsthand on 25s. Lo and behold the numbers work out almost exactly like Festergut: assuming our 3 missing people were there, we'd have wiped on a few different attempts with Rotface around 2%. :p

I don't know if this is just coincidence or if Blizzard deserves some kudos for balancing the two so closely despite the fights being wildly different. I suppose we at least have room to improve on Rotface, though. Ah well.

Dash: Assuming they're not private, I'm interested in seeing the WoL report for the night you killed Rotface if you don't mind! Your guild seems pretty darn close to mine and I'd just like to see some things here and there. It's not hard to find random guilds' WoL reports but the data just isn't applicable when they're so far ahead of mine, killing Saurfang with only 2 marks or whatever...

Bleh for no-shows on a wednesday night. Serverwide lag hosed us out of our Festergut kill tuesday night (he's not on farm yet, but close to it now). Then last night we cancelled the 25 man due to lack of attendance.

Bad thing was our usually dependable A team were several of the no-shows, so we couldn't go into a good 10 man either to see the new content. Maybe tonight.

Took my poorly geared rogue alt into normal Forge of Souls, trying to get the dagger or the leather shoulders. I ended up losing the dagger to our feral tank because, "It'll help my tanking." Gotta love some of the people in the pugs.

Meanwhile it already had the orca hunter's harpoon polearm or whatever. :(

You know, I've seen plenty of tanks bithing whenever someone roles on tank gear, even if that person has a tank offspec in a PUG because "you didn't join the group as the tank" and others in the group sympathize with them, but when tanks role on DPS gear no one bats an eyelash. They always pull out this crap of "it's just accepted that you don't roll on tank gear the tank needs".

It's horseshit because while any class can be DPS, not all can be tanks or healers and some can only be DPS. It's double horseshit because it's a catch-22.. if I can't roll on tank gear how can I ever get gear that will let me join as a tank?

Personally, I only roll Need on gear that meets my current spec. I don't compete for DPS gear when I'm tanking, or vice versa. If there is an offspec upgrade and nobody looks like he's going for it, I'll ask the group if it's ok if I snag it for my offspec. Nobody ever has a problem with that, and some have thanked me for asking.

Regarding how you get tank gear if you can't get it from heroics, you can do what all the other tanks did before 3.3, start with crafted and/or reputation gear, tank the easy stuff, then work your way up to the higher level content. Or you can save up emblems and buy your T9 tank set.

I consider it a courtesy to allow tanks priority on tank upgrades, just like healers should get priority on their upgrades, and DPS get theirs. I generally don't care much since I am usually just there for emblems anyways.

Not certain if those responses were due to me griping over a Feral Tank taking a dagger as a tank weapon.

My main is a Prot Paly. When I go in as a tank, I'll only roll on DPS gear if all the other DPS click to DE it/greed it. If I go in as ret and a tank piece drops,(tank ring most recently.) I'll wait to see if the tank greeds/DE's first before I announce a roll for my non current spec.

As for my situation, I could be wrong, I don't think the Heartshiver is appropriate as a tank weapon of a feral druid, over the already equipped Orca-Hunter's harpoon. But I could be wrong. I haven't played a druid in years.
