I don't understand excessive tattooing or piercing, but for the most part I'm not bothered by anyone's mods.

Most piercings I don't understand in the slightest. There are only a couple really that I find interesting, and there are a bunch that I find gross or perplexing in some manner. Ears, small nose studs, and a couple things are fine; things like eyebrows and random other places I don't get at all.

I definitely don't understand the "tattoo just to have a tattoo" mindset. Not against having one myself, but I've never found anything worth putting on my body permanently. The only thing that's crossed my mind more than once would be something about my kids, but I've never been able to think of a design that incorporated them that I would like.

Being part of the tattooed just to be tattooed crowd and the tattooes that should have meaning to someone crowd...

Part of being tattooed just for the hell of it is honestly the pain. It hurts like hell, but there is something almost serene about the pain.

It is a pain I choose, not a pain I experience. It has gone from being borderline unbearable to being a feeling a crave at times.

Other: I do not have any mods, though I considered a shoulder tat at one point. I could never settle on something I was sure I wanted to be on me forever. I'm well over it now and will likely never have anything done.

On other folks:
Piercings beyond the standard ear lobe stud or bauble I find to be at least distracting and at worst disgusting.

Tattoos are very subjective. Some I think are great. However, when I see someone who covers their face with ink, I sincerely get the feeling that we are not of the same species. I'm sorry if that offends someone here, but it's easier to be blunt behind the wall of the internet. Face-to-face I'd probably avoid the subject but tell you if you asked. :p

Other. I have one tattoo, don't regret it, and don't plan on getting any others.

I have 1 tat on my ankle that I did myself with a safety pin and some india ink when I was 15. I need to cover it or remove it.

Like my attitude that even though Britain is evil, some Brits are very nice people - too many times tats and piercings are low class and gross, though some who wear them are be classy and neat.

In some areas this qualifies a person as legally insane. It renders a person mostly unemployable (except for an exciting carreer as a Wal Mart graveyard shift stock clerk).

And I apologize if I offend anyone with this; but, putting tatooes on your face is not cool: unless you are in a circus sideshow, an aborigene or a Samoan.

Like Kaffis, I don't consider it a status thing as much as I find them ranging from generally unattractive to disgusting.

Tonight I finally made a decision about what tattoo I'm going to get, once I can afford and find a good enough artist to do it.

Artwork by Derek Hess, one of his more famous pieces called "Hemorrhage." I'll probably get it on my right side, underneath my arm on my ribs.

I found the tramp stamp to be a nice piece of ambiance while I hit it from the back.

I did not know she had a tattoo prior to the clothes coming off. I didn't really think about it much at the time, but looking back, it kinda worked for me. I was going to be looking at her *** anyway, and I found it a pleasant thing to look at. What I am trying to say is that it did not detract from the experience in any way, and I would definitely **** a chick with an *** tat again.

I have no tattoos or piercings (well, I have three earring piercings, one in the right lobe and two in the left... the third I did myself impulsively and I'm right-handed so there's no significance to the location). I just consider the body canvas to be beautiful and marring it doesn't appeal. Clean and classy never goes out of style. ; )

I am somewhat addicted to pain and have some scars to prove it, so I can kinda understand that. But not paying for it, lol. And, no, that spasm of insanity has long since passed.

For the record, tattoos aren't as bad as piercings. But I don't care for either, although a belly button piercing is a sure "**** me" sign to a guy, so it might make your slut hunting easier.

Most tattoos, and piercings other than in ears, I don't care for, but not all. Some, I like.

I am pleased with how my right sleeve turned out. I am going to do my left sleeve/shoulder/chest and back. My back will be my birth name in Hangul with the Taegeukgi, except the red and blue will have a Stars and Stripes motif. It will have a "weathered" look. I am anticipating the part on the spine is going to hurt quite significantly.

The sleeve/shoulder/chest is just an evolving idea from a variety of things, and may never materialize. If I feel it's appropriate and find an artist, I'll do it; if not I won't.

Getting tattooed on your spine isn't very painful at all. I know from experience. :p

If you have your underarm area tattooed on your half sleeve, that is definitely a bit more painful.

Actually, parts of the tricep were painful, but there was one nerve at the very top of the where bicep meets the anterior deltoid that felt like hot glass being shoved in. Very unexpected, making it all the more painful.

I think some of that depends on the person. When my wife had her back done, along the spine was very painful for her.

Tho over her sciatic nerve was worse.

My ears pierced but I can't seem to wear an alloy without contact dermatitis. I haven't tried platinum yet. Maybe someday.

I plan on getting a tattoo.

I've got lots of surgical grade stainless steel instruments here at the office. Maybe I could hook a tissue forcep thru my ear and see if I break out. =)

I thought my spine was the second most painful spot I have ever been inked. The first being my shin. Yes my shin. The underarm did not hurt at all compared to my shin, holy jesus in heaven that sucked.
