The king had had it up to here with the court jester's puns,so he ordered him to be locked in a closet. After a day, he relented and sent a messenger to make a deal with the jester.
The messenger went to the closet and shouted through the door
"the king says you can come out, if you promise never to make
another pun". The jester replied, "oh pun the door."

Different jester, different king, same scenario, except this time the king ordered the jester to be hanged. When he
relented, he sent a messenger to the jail. The messenger arrived and said to the jester: "News from the king. He says
if you promise never to make a pun again, you won't have to
hang. Jester thought a moment, and then he replied: "No noose
is good noose."



The king decided to give the jester one more chance. The messenger arrives
at the jail and says to the jester, "The king will release you if quit
making puns. If you make a pun on any subject, you will be put to death."
The jester replies, "Then I will only make puns about the king, since the
king is not a subject."

The messenger tells the king the jester's reply. The king is furious. He
has the jester brought before him and discusses how he should be killed.

King: "Shall you be burned alive?"
Jester:"With the end of my life at stake?"
King: "Suffer the executioner's axe?"
Jester: "Beheading for disaster..."
King: "Run through with a spear?"
Jester: "Your point would not be well taken."
King: "Buried alive?"
Jester: "That would be a grave error."
King: "Strangled?"
Jester: "Your suggestion lacks breath."
King: "Fed to the lions?"
Jester: "Only after they've eaten up all other possibilities."
King: "Made to drink poison?"
Jester: "Just sipping away would be hard to swallow."
King: "Drawn and quartered?"
Jester: "It's hard to picture my part."
King: "Crushed by a millstone?"
Jester: "Laid low in the flour of my youth?"
King: "Drowned in the sea?"
Jester: "Would it sink in before I waved goodbye?"
King: "Dissolved in acid?"
Jester: "It's not your basic liquidation technique, is it?"
King: "Pulled apart by a team of horses?"
Jester: "If I decided to go through that gait, I'd be beside myself."
King: "Thrown to the alligators?"
Jester: "And face tooth or croc-sequences?"
King: "Face the firing squad?"
Jester: "Truly a parting shot."

Only an hour and a half or so until Apple announces the newest product to change everyone's life forever! All right I don't really drink the kool-aid that much, but I am curious to see the new tablet. Also I want to see if Jobs breathes fire and nukes McGraw-Hill from orbit for outing Apple a day early about their new product.
