DE if you post your armory we could probably give you specific advice. Or just your char name and server.

This page has all the quests and location of the Argent Tournament:

http://www.wowwiki.com/Argent_Tournament

Battered hilt would require a lot of luck to even see drop and then win, so dont count on that one.

What's your character name, and server?

Or, go to wowarmory.com and put in your name. Select yourself, and post that link :)

Should we be alarmed that you're using the lance from the joust instance?

Zyerne, Argent Dawn

BTW I have some other shoulders that I change in for tanking (roughly comparable overall stats) and I kept the Axe of the Frozen Wastes with the 2-handed tanking rune on it.

My first comment would be that your gear is too mixed.

You have some PvP gear, some tanking gear, and some DPS gear- and it'll cause you problems.

For a cheap and easy PvP gear set, get the Savage Saronite for the slots you don't already have PvP gear in.

For PvE, look at getting the titansteel head and boots, both for your tanking and DPS sets. The boots of both should last you a long time.

Also, I'd suggest you pick up some more profitable professions- look up a guide for leveling mining, and level mining from 1-450. It'll net you a few thousand gold along the way, and then you can farm your own mats for blacksmith made pieces.

That's because I only have one gear set. The only slots that get changed out to tank are shoulders and the weapon. I'm planning on accumulating a tank gear set as I go.

I do not know if this is still perfectly relevant now, but two months ago when a guildy DK decided to go tank from scratch, this post helped her out a good bit with accumulating tanking gear.

http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f97/5416 ... -list.html

Take into consideration the 3 new heroics/regulars will have gear that's better then some of the starter gear mentioned in the thread.

DE; you can actually go with running random dungeons via the random group finder. Do the normals to start with. Get drops from those. As you get better gear you can break into some heroics.

This will get you triumph badges. That is how I got all of my decent gear now. But for PVP better yet; you get stonekeeper shards; to buy wintergrasp gear.

I do not know much about the PVP gear; but dude.. if you do any PVE you need to work at getting hit rating to around 263 (8%) and our expertise softcap is 26.

For weaponry; I recommend the Titansteel destroyer as a good upgrade for you. It is damned good. And if you are in a guild see if someone can make it for you if you provide the mats.

I've been doing the randos for the badges, and did my first heroic last night. Mainly I just don't get how the gear sets from different emblems match up.

The triumph badge guy DKs want to talk to are right near the trial of the crusader

oh and for some spec advice... one of the DKs in the guild I am part of uses a pretty badass build, it is unholy based.. but based on the fact that she pulled close to 12k DPS on a raid that Mus linked to me the other day.. I trust her to know her ****.....

Lichborn PVP build

Gear from Heroism < Valor < Conquest < Triumph < Frost for badge gear. With Triumph Badges, you can get a full set of Tier 9 gear from a vendor at the Argent Tournament Grounds in Icecrown (Head, Chest, Legs, Shoulders, Hands) that are ilevel 232. You can also buy, from the badge vendors in Dalaran, ilevel 245 gear pieces with Triumph Badges- these consist of shoulders and helms, as well as Rings and Sigils for your relic slot.

Wait.. if Triumph is higher than Frost, why do Heroic instances give Frost emblems but regular give Triumph? Or are those < signs so that it's the other way around? (Heroism lowest, Frost highest)

And where do the ones other than triumph and frost come from?

I get more and more confused. It seems like there's like 5 different ways to get gear of about the same power but that does different stuff.

Also, is spell power of any use to a DK? Some abilities seem to be spells, but we don't use mana so I've stayed away from it.

And why does nothing seem to have resistance on it anymore?

Heroism dropped from Naxx 10, Valor from Naxx 25. Conquest from Uld 25. When ToC (3.2) came out, all the badges changed to drop conquest from everything but ToC. ToC dropped triumph.

Now, when 3.3 hit, everything drops Triumph except for ICC and the random daily, and weekly raid.

Heroism badge gear is Ilevel 200, Valor is 219, Conquest is 226, triumph (tier sets) are 232, (rings and trinks) are 245. Frost badge gear is 264.

Spell Power is of no use to a DK.

And resistances are pretty useless outside of a few particular raid encounters. As pallies, shammies, priests and hunters can all provide appropriate resistance buffs if necessary.

If you read, they actually ARE < signs.... Triumph < Frost does mean that Triumph is lower than frost.....

There are no two ways to get gear of the same power. Each badge gives a different tier of gear, increasing in the order I mentioned.

I kinda miss resists on gear. :( They should add random resists every now and then on pieces of gear! Make it free in terms of item budget. Make it uncommon enough that you can't really build a frost resist, fire resist, etc set. But maybe it would be nice if you could drop back a tier of gear for some Ulduar or ToC item with frost resist for one fight or somefin. I dunno.

Then again I'm a resto Druid and since 3.3 my option gear options are sta/int/spirit + sp/haste items. Anything else outside of trinkets and perhaps a set piece or two for bonuses is unwanted. :( So bland...

It's a little confusing, but it's not too bad once you get used to it. PvE: Running instances for drops and emblems. PvP: Battlegrounds and Arena for Honor Points and Marks of Honor. Crafted. Gear you can buy from NPCs based on your reputation.

Top priority is a new weapon. What do you usually do when you log on? Do you PvE instances or PvP or what?

If I were you I'd do Trial of the Champion normal mode which can get you anything on this list: http://www.wowhead.com/?items&filter=qu ... 0:0#0-13+1

You want the trinket, BP, Helm and Gloves. You can run this over and over, no lockout.

Once you get some good stuff, go on to Trial of the Champion Heroic mode: http://www.wowhead.com/?items&filter=qu ... :1;crv=0:0

Neck, Legs, Shoulders, Boots, Polearm and/or 2 handed axe are all good for you here. You can run this once per day.

Meantime do the Argent Tournament quests.

Scored the Edge of Ruin last night after umpteen ToC: H runs. significant improvement. I'm keeping my eyes open for a second weapon for tanking (due to the runes); right now I have a level 80 green sword for tanking (something-or-other of Stamina)

Nice DE, thats a really nice upgrade piece to get. You'll also see a huge performance boost if you gem/enchant everything. You can use the "one off" cheaper versions (i.e. +16 gems or lower level enchant) but definitely use em. Spring for the more expensive gems for your gear that wont be getting replaced soon.

Note you can use 10,000 honor to buy the gems and then just have a JC cut them for you... MUCH cheaper!

Yeah, I'm going to start on that next. I was going to save for a hilt, but I suppose I'll get around to that eventually. I may even be able to afford one fairly soon if I can find JCs and get the honor fast enough.

DKs use AP for their spellpower.

*very badly needs a tanking 2h upgrade, because he's using a blue from Borean still at 77*

The Axe of Frozen Death? I used that thing all the way to 80.

My DPS sword is the Troll Butcherer, and we're working on Tournament dailies so we'll have some seals and maybe be able to buy, say, a greatsword at 70.

Where's the Troll Butcherer from? I quested the hell out of Borean and never got that. I was hoping to pick it up late 70s to replace the AoFD but I never found it.
