How is George close to Tom?

You have to remember - a good hint can also point to a red herring unless taken in conjunction with other hints.

So... name + adjective is common for my name.

Famous musician and famous author associated with my name.

Was not popular until last 300 years.

Musician famous for my name known for appearance on Carson.

If you avoid television history and turn to modern musicians, gotta have Faith.

George Micheal sang "Gotta have Faith."
That was going to be my guess.

My name was not popular until it was associated with death and destruction.

True, George Michael sang "Faith" (Limp Bizkit later covered it and there's a mashup of the two on my iTunes).

However, Kirra remains closest at Tom.

Indeed. I am a Messenger of God.

Come into my van for some of the divine oracle.

I'm not going to make this easy:

Huh... the first letter of my name is pronounced differently in English than it is in Spanish.

Oh, and I'm not a Lennon, either, although I might sound somewhat like one.

Also, in a display of gall worthy of mention at this point, my mom named me after a character in what's essentially a British novelist's Edwardian soap opera.

Nope! Six letters, but now you've accounted for three of them. Bigger hint - the elder Lennon isn't the only one, and you've also probably never heard my name before in your life :P

Nooooooo! I will not click it I won't I won't I won't, and yet it's still already in my head.

P.S. - Not Johnny, or John, or any variant of that. Also, it's much too late for goodbyes.

Much much closer! Phonetically, you're just one step away. (First post: Oh, and I'm not a Lennon, either, although I might sound somewhat like one.) Work the 'Edwardian soap opera' angle and you're there. Also, I would honestly be shocked if anyone got this without using Google, so go for it :P
