Grrr, I get so **** sick of this, you get all these overweight people that complain when someone gives them a hard time about their weight, and then the same **** people go and give me a hard time because I actually care about my looks and health and want to loose weight and be fit, it annoys the **** out of me :x

Um...the only weight you have to lose is in your ta-tas. It would be a pity to lose those. I'm sure thats all they mean.
You look fab.
I put on 20 lbs of baby weight and I intend to keep it...it went to all the right places.
I would be shocked if you need to lose any weight at all for health reasons....unless your photos have been photo-shopped, you look uber skinny already.

I'm tall so I generally don't show it (plus I suck it in all the time), but i'm actually overweight at the moment, have quite a bit of belly fat, enough so that I can no longer fit into any of my size 8 jeans, and i'm very unfit atm, just started my diet yesterday and went to do a 50 min beginers yoga workout, I had to stop at 35 mins cause it kicked my butt, I used to be able to do a 90 min one without problems, even my doctor wants me to lose some weight.

And no, those photo's aren't photoshopped or anything and some fairly recent, but as I said, my height hides it fairly well.

ROFL!!! 120, I wish, the weight in at the weight contest in work yesterday I was 170 with cloths, so about 165 without.

Girl, you are hot as hell. You don't look like you need to lose weight at all.
I guess if your doctor says so then thats what ya gotta do....but don't be mad at the rest of us for balking at the idea of you dieting....you look thin and perfect!

Lol, well yes, cures are sexy, problem I don't gain weight on my hips or butt, so when I gain weight I look straight and have no curves, when I lose weight then I have a waist so I have curves.

And my doctor would like to see me back around 135, which is health for me and my height, right now i'm actually medically overweight.

Ok, I'm 5"4 and my ideal weight is 135. I know you are taller than me. Either you have super tiny bones or you need a new doctor.

I try to cultivate an attitude where weight is meaningless, because really? It is. Muscle weighs more than fat, and really weight is just an arbitrary valuation of health. Tone is far far more important. Feeling good in your body is far far more important. Are those good things to pursue? Hell yeah. But both of those are a far cry from something as absolute as weight. So long as you're not getting caught up in pursuing something as weirdly subjective as aesthetics, I think doing whatever the heck you want with your diet and your body (different than just dieting, exercise is big too!) is just fine.

P.S. Curves are not subjectively appealing. Those are absolute. I will not budge on this.

Maybe for you Jeryn, that's true. Me? I'm trying to get to 250. Racing there, in fact.

Sas:

**** all the haters, do it for you :D No one else.

Kinda part of my point! There are a bunch of pro athletes who are at the pinnacle of health at 250 lbs. I would be in terrible shape at 250 lbs though. Me, with my frame and without bulking up in muscle mass, I'm probably at my best at around 170ish, and I'm a fair amount above that right now. Not enough to make me want to change my diet, but enough that I've started doing little things like going for walks, and parking at the end of the parking lot, and taking my daughter to the playground to run around, etc. Stupid desk job!

I'm joking, I'm 5'7 and I have 70" arms ... I have to eat insane amounts to stay at 150 and do lots of squats, deadlifts etc.

Well at 5'-4" 135 in near the upper end of healthy, at 5'-8" it's towards the lower end, for my height the healthy range is 125-164, but the way my body carries the fat I need to be lower because my waist to hip ratio it in the unhealthy range, I need to get my waist down to at least 31", which is 2" smaller than current to get into the healthy area. The ideal healthy waist to hip measurment is a 28" waist for me, which is right around where I am at 135.

As to weight of muscle heavier than fat, I have very very little muscle mass and high fat mass, yes being out of the BMI range is healthy if you're musclar and fit and tone, i'm neither of those.

That's no unreasonable Sas, and I think you can get there, but I think Jeryn's point is valid: feeling healthy and being healthy is more important than having numbers which indicate you are "healthy".

Dang it! I knew that about Kulidwen somewhere in the back of my head, but haven't permanently made the Rafael association yet. I remember a metabolism like that! Until my late 20s I literally could do nothing to get past 150 lbs - I hiked 10-15 miles every weekend, I was just in ridiculously good shape in general, and was eating protein supplements like a fiend, but nothing on this Earth was going to put a pound on me - so of course all I wanted was to bulk up a little. Now that I'm pushing 40, the story's a little different :P

You might need to do some cardio conditioning too.

I know exactly how you feel; I've been trying to get down to 200 pounds myself (lowest I've been so far is 207; I haven't been at 200 in over 10 years. Until the last month I hovered between 218 and 225) before a body fat test... unfortunately there's a physical fitness test that goes with it so I can't just lose weight; I have to avoid losing muscle since I need to improve my strength, speed, and stamina at the same time. I've been doing an alternating sprints one day, 3-mile-run the other day pattern with various abdominal and push-up patterns mixed in.

It's killing me, especially since it's A) cold and B) often snowing and icey as well. I must be nuts. Hang in there Sas, you'll feel better when you see some results.

Well i'm doing yoga which is effective for losing weight and toning, and yup, i'll feel better once i'm back down, I just get so sick of the current 72.7% of this country that are overweight and obese trying make themselves feel better about their weight by giving those of us that actually care about our weight and body a hard time about it.

It's even more annoying when they also claim they have a disability.

I'm sitting at about 180lbs and I'm 5'9". Ideally I'd like to be back around 165lbs, so I know how you feel, at least.

I just like beer too much.

grr, and one of my friends posted a link to a video on youtube about anorexia in woman and that 10 million women are anorexic/bulemic, of course that completely ignores the fact that people who are unhealthy due to being underweight is trivial compared to overweight in this country, it's only about 3%, vs the over 100 million that are overweight/obese, sorry, it just really pisses me off.
