Yes, anorexia nervosa and Bulimia are definite issues. As long as you don't not eat, or eat and then puke, you're fine.

Wanting to be healthy isn't bad.

It's not trivial to the people who are anorexic, though.

Also, Müs -- not all anorexics starve themselves. Some overexercise, instead. Most use a combination of the two.

Well I didn't mean trivial as in it just being trivial itself, more that when 3% of americans are anorexic and 72.7% of americans are overweight/obese it is a much smaller problem in comparison.

You also aren't obese. From what you've described, it sounds like you are, at the worst, wearing a little bit of winter "keepin' warm" fat. Ain't nothin' about you that says, "OMG! Do not want!"

But okay, you want to slim down a little bit to fit into your old jeans. I dig. But I also want to point out that I have **** bigger women than you and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I think the out of breath part and easily winded is more of an issue than fitting into the summer jeans ;)

Sas I think you look beautiful, but getting fit is always a good idea! You know how your body feels and if you don't like it, I applaude you for working out! I am 5'1" and just weighed in at 116..but I have the poofy belly thing going on and need to get busy working out too. Fat always settles in the wrong places and I lose it first in my boobs..what's with that? Big hips no boobs meh.

****, I'm 5'9" too, and struggling to get down to 200. 180 is decent.

I'd also like to know where that claim of 10 million anorexic/bulemic women comes from and how they arrive at that number.

I was 6'1" 296 a year ago. Since then I've lost about 30# or so. I still need to shed at least 30 more.

It sure as hell ain't easy though.

I was about 188 this time last year. Now I'm 168 (at 5'9"). I started working out 4-6 times a week. 3 days of running and 3 days of weight/resistance training.

I started out using the website www.homeworkoutguide.com but I think that guy sold out because now they sell something on there.

Now I go to www.iwantsixpackabs.com and he has mostly the same exercises. Many things on that website that you can do from the privacy of your own home. I'm as muscular as I've ever been and still losing weight, albeit slowly because I pig out on weekends. I have good weeks and bad weeks, but my monthly trend has always been downward. One of the biggest things thats helped was changing out the fries for salad or fruit. I'm a tea drinker so I wasn't drinking soda.

Start using smaller plate sizes and for the next month or two, start documenting what you ate, what time, and if you remember, what your emotional state was. You'll be able to identify your problem spots in the day.

Good luck on losing weight. Its a friggin battle but I feel like I'm finally at the place where my lifestyle has changed permanently.

I have found as you get older Sass that sometimes you have to let go just a little. I'm a size 8 on top, but a size 10 for pants, and for the life of me, it refuses to go down regardless of excercise.

I have found that swimming is great for tonning and walking is great for losing weight. If you need something big, evil, will scare anything living away and will pull on the leash, you're welcome to take my rotty for walks. Of course I am not responsible for any dry cleaning costs if you get licked to death hehe...

I have also found changing what I eat and how I eat it effect the weight drastically. But then I have the motto of "I'm always on a diet... Ohhhh. food~!!!"

I had to shoot a commercial today for a cosmetic surgeon. Besides that very fact making me feel dirty as hell, his new machine is a procedure known as the BodyJet, which uses water to break up the fat before the vacuum it out.

So I took the brochure home to scan for pictures in the spot, and noticed a bit of information in there stating that "the ideal candidate for BodyJet is one who is less than 25 lbs. overweight..."

W.

T.

F.

Seriously? You're going to spend thousands of dollars to have surgery...for less than twenty-five **** pounds?!?

Look, I'm overweight. I've lost some weight. I'd love to lose about 60-80 lbs. more. But dammit, if I'm going to lose weight it's going to be because I work at it, not because I paid somebody to cut me open and stick a damned vacuum in me. It feels false, and it feels wrong.

**** that! Suck it out of my fat ***!

If I could get my insurance to pay for 80% of a lipo procedure, they can go ahead and pull the 40# off my midsection. I'd do that in a heartbeat.

My weight gain's from depression not from getting older, it's my coping mechanism, I put on over 20 pounds in that last 8 months, I can get it down easy enough when I try, I just need something extra to motivate me atm to overcome the depression eating, the $150 prize for winning at work is enough for that though :) i've lost 60 pounds in a year before, I used to be 210 about 4-5 years ago.

Yeah, I think i'll pass on walking your rotty, i'm so not a dog person :p Especially when it comes to big dogs.

Since I actually met Sassandra back in September, which is early in that eight month period she is talking about. . .

I considered her fit then. I didn't think she had no extra fat, she dressed to emphasize her strengths. I didn't notice it until she pointed it out to me in a couple pictures.

Yes, she has a few extra pounds around the middle she could shed. Definitely not enough to make me think she has a weight problem, but I wouldn't be hiring her to do a swimsuit shoot either. If she wants to lose those few pounds and trim down to be fit, it is a valid goal. Being fit is a worthy goal. Understand, I don't think its more than about ten pounds tops when I met her. Sassy is tall and muscular. I think she discounts how much of her body weight is muscle and not fat. Yes, I feel hypocritical commenting on someone else's weight.

So Sassy, encouragement, diet safely and work out strenuously. Get reality checks from your doctor on a regular basis if people start telling you that you've lost too much weight.
.
Of course, I thought you looked fantastic back in September.

It's tough and there are a lot of extremes out there, media airbrushes already thin models and people think that is what they should look like. Then when they look in the mirror they feel hopeless and lash out at others that are trying to get in better shape. People are insecure so there is a lot of attention on trying to be perfect instead of being healthy.

I used to be in great shape and even when I was 169 pounds of solid muscle I still wouldn't take my shirt off because I always had man boobs. No matter how many push ups or other exercise I could never get rid of them I was always embarassed.

As I have gotten older the weight has packed on and I would give anything to have my old body back even with its imperfections. I finally got serious about it and have been cutting back on the diet and exercising, and stopping the excuses. I kept telling myself that because of all the injuries I just couldn't work out anymore but I am finding things I can do and it is slowly coming off.

Keep at it Sas and don't worry about what other people think, you may even motivate them to do it themselves.

By the way you have my vote as well that you look great.

Only if I have no pants on.

Seriously yes I can. There was a time: I was up to around 300 and I cold not even see my gorram feet when I stood up. Having to declare my feet MIA was enough incentive for me to get back from the upper 290s down to the low to mid 260s.

ROFL Micheal!!!

I've gone from 160 last January to 147 this January just by changing how I eat, not what. Now that I've started to increase my exercise (I was a slug for a long time!!) I am expecting a lot faster weight loss, but more importantly, a much better toned body. Walking every day for 30 to 40 minutes, weights every other day, and the exercises from my back pain class all add up!

Keep at it Sas until you feel comfortable with your health and your body. I like many others here think you look great...but only you know how healthy you feel and only your doctor and you know what your actual health is like at the moment. Good luck! :)
