Why would anyone be happy or unhappy? This is in accordance with military equal opportunity policy.

Well, given recent posting history here, Christianity is/was taking over the Air Force Academy.....

No, that was a couple people going apeshit over a problem that occured 3 years ago, and in conjunction with an unrelated matter.

The mere fact that Wiccans are being admitted to the hyper-competitive service academies at all crushes any notion of a religious takeover.

Exactly. Hence my question to anyone fearful that Christianity is taking over: "Happy now?"

Well you can just don't expect windex to be tax exempt or the IRS to recognize your little plastic dependants.

Back to the OT: Its not for me to say they can't have one

This post was reported as "flame-baiting." I'm not seeing anything remotely problematic about the post. Carry on.

Thank you. Flame baiting was not the intent.

Well, what was the intent? Who were you asking? When someone asks that question in day to day life, they do so in order to taunt the person they were talking to regarding a victory they see to be phyrric.

"Well, dear, your insistence on fixing the dryer has caused the washer to break down - happy now?"

For lack of a better term, Prophet Bery, it's a ***** tone to take.

And for the record, I am seriously happy about this. That they had to struggle for approval at all is really the issue I see.

The intent was to demonstrate that the fears of a Christian take-over in the military is unfounded. I anticipated that some people were going to be happy to see that is the case.

The comment about "King Monte" got reported, and then the same person uses "Prophet Bery"? wtf.

He's dragging up some stuff from years ago, I believe. I thought about reporting it, but the mods have enough on their plate already.

Then I think you failed to make your point. Just because they deigned to allow pagans a place to worship does not mean there isn't a fundamentalist Christian takeover going on.

Taly said calling me "King Monte" did not qualify as a personal attack. *shrug*. It's got nothing to do with anything in the past, and everything to do with the parameters being laid out by the moderation staff. What's good for the goose *is* good for the gander, right?

Of course not. But it doesn't change the fact that your reasoning is seriously flawed.

I think his point was if you found it reprehensible that someone would call you that, why would you do the same?

Because I was apparently incorrect about it being reprehensible. Works for me.

Of course my reasoning is seriously flawed. The AFA provided a place for wiccans to meet, and that obviously means that the Christians are taking over!

How could I possibly have missed that, unless my reasoning is seriously flawed?

Yes it does. The two are mutually exclusive.

In any case, you'd need a lot more evidence that a couple problems at the Air Force Academy a couple years ago and the ill-advised action of one contractor to show a takeover. I mean a LOT more. You're not even at 1% of the evidence needed here, even counting the whiney colonel who thought "warrior" was some sort of Chrsitian code-word. The burden of proof is to show that one is occuring, not to show that one isn't.

This fundamentalist Christian conspiracy to take over the military is pretty insidious. Nearly 14 years in the AF now and I've never run across it...

Must be some sort of covert black-ops group from the Vatican running it.

Yes, you were incorrect. I don't see your "Prophet Bery" comment as reprehensible. I just kinda thought it hypocritical of you to say it after you complained about the "King Monte" comment. *shrug* Whatever.

We're sneaky like that.

*edit* I posted this, and the reply to Montegue above, before I saw he was temporarily banned. I am not going to delete the posts unless the mods ask me too, even though it may seem unfair that Montegue not get a chance to respond. I simply want to make it clear I did not know about it prior to the posting, and apologize if anyone is offended.
