Amdee's passing has affected us. We all, at least those of us who have posted, seem to be significantly shaken by it. We should be, she was a weird but fun member of our community. I was very fond of her offbeat sense of humor and enjoyed her lists.

She leaves us with a question. How do we handle the passing of our friends and 'foes'. For some of us, will we even know when people pass away, or will we just think they moved past the Glade and just don't participate anymore. For the couples on the board, if tragedy strikes the surviving member will most likely inform us. I have a standing request with the folks that took care of me after my fall that if I pass away they let you know. Katas would probably find out before most of you. Do you have something in place that will let us know if tragedy strikes you? Will Mus tell us if Darkseige plows into a brick wall to avoid running over a puppy? Or vice versa?

How do we honor those who leave us? What is appropriate? I listened to a few Ramones songs last night, but I'd like to see some other manner in which we choose to remember Amdee.

Any suggestions?

What do you folks think?

Please discuss.

I'd thought about this earlier. If either Shel or I drop dead you'll certainly hear about it from the remaining ranger. If we both go I don't know if you'd ever hear about it. Certainly Katas would notice I hadn't been on IMs for a while.

I don't have any emergency plans in place, but Screeling would probably notice if I disappeared.

I would chose not to let anyone know. But if you guys really wanted to find out, I'm sure one of the mods could use my email to get onto my blog and read the latest. Other wise I'd rather pass silently into the night, praying that my presence here added the slightest shimmer in someone's heart.

"Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die. "

Of course knowing me, I'd probably turn into a ghost and haunt you guys... death is so boring...

I rather think Coren would let y'all know if I pass, and maybe my fiancee would log on with my acct to tell you.

I hope that if/when that happens, y'all will remember me as someone who tried very hard to be faithful to God, and that my wish for ALL of you is to see you in the next world. Take your time getting there, folks, but don't be late, and enter in by the narrow door.

I posted this earlier, but I left a "If I die" note in my motorcycle jacket, the thing I'm most likely to die while wearing. I update it from time to time ... but I would hope most people have an idea of how they would want their passing remembered.

For example, I remember at my mother's mother's passing, people were rather jovial and light hearted. The reason being, her last 5 years or more of life were consumed by dementia and senility ... it was so sad to watch her lose her mind. Her passing was really a bettering of her. My father said at that funeral that he would wished against everything that people would take time to grieve when he passes. Even though I want the opposite for myself, I will stand in concerete shoes to meet his wishes when it happens.

Wow, now I'm homesick. Anyway, the crux if my suggestion I think Kaffis and those close to Amdee might best help us understand the most honorable way to pay tribute to her passing

I am torn, I would like to think that if I pass away; Mus would drop a message. But how I would want others to treat it is really difficult to think of. I do not like dwelling on my mortality; it frightens me.

I think to be funny I would want my signature changed by the mods to read. "Incoming Cazic.... crap." with my Title changed to "Loading Please Wait".

on a serious note: I do not know what I would want people to think/feel. Sorrow would be nice; but I doubt that I made that kind of an impression on much of anyone.

There is sufficient overlap in my various circle of friends that if I died, my RL friends would inform my WoW friends, who could then pass the information on to the Glade.

DS....Do not sell yourself short..I have not been here long, but you have made an impression on me. Tuff tattoo guy aside, you impress me with your strength and conviction.

Many souls on this board have made impressions on me and I can only hope to return the favors.

My son has instructions to contact my best friend and gaming partner if anything happens to me. I need to give him the address for these forums too.

I'll be blunt. At my age, I am only intellectually aware of my own mortality.

No one here would know what happened to me. The only people that might wonder where the **** I went would be Diamondeye, Ranelagh, Coro, Taly and Rorinthas because I play DnD with them on OpenRPG on Saturday nights.

I think it goes without saying that if something happened to either Oonagh or myself, the other would update here. Either that or Elmo would know and update here.

I think Elm or Hannibal would notice the missing of me, and I of them

Nitefox and I will post if one or the other passes away. If we both die at the same time...well...you'll know something has happened to us if neither one has posted within a month.

That being said, I think I underestimated just how important everyone on here is to me....even if I don't "speak" to you, I read your posts, I enjoy what you have to say, I feel like you belong here and that you make this place what it is by your own unique contributions.
And when you are gone, as silly as it may seem to others IRL, I will mourn for you. I will miss you, and I will hurt.

Maybe a stickied thread with just a pic of Amdee and a 'in memorium' would be nice.

Also, if someone in the know would take up a flower/gift collection that would be great....just PM us the address to send our contribution to.
I don't know about ya'll but I feel so helpless and that seems to be the one thing that I actually could do to help.

*Still sad.*

Echoing Kirra's and Lydia's sentiment. You were a supportive soul when I was going through my parental nightmare. You've made an impression here, friend.

I will not go gentle into that good night, but rather will I rage, rage against the dying of the light...

If I were to suddenly disappear and never be heard from again, if I could I would urge you not to grieve, but rather hope. For the life that I've already lived has been as good as one can reasonable expect...I have family, a few close friends, true love more than all but a few, and too few regrets to mention. I don't know what comes after, but I'd like to think there is some kind of immortality. I'm almost curious...but i enjoy life too much to avoid scrambling tooth and nail to keep living every last possible second: life is good.

I think a few people have my FB account so theoretically someone who actually knows me in person would say something there... maybe. Otherwise I expect to be quickly forgotten.

I dunno. My wife might do it. She might not. I have a couple friends that lurk here from time to time and maybe they might say something. I guess the only thing I really care about as far as me dying goes is to make sure my wife will be okay. Nothing personal.

Hmm. I have a couple friends who lurk that might post if I were to die.

As for what I'd want folks to remember or do? That's a good question. Frankly people here have only seen a small amount of what I'm like. I typically only post in Hellfire and the occasional WoW thread.

I guess I'd ask that folks don't pray for me, but actually go out and do a good deed for me. Plant a tree, help a neighbor, drink a beer, play a game, have great sex. DO something to enjoy your time here on this world as I firmly believe that you only go around once, so make the most of it.
