I was happier with him at the helm than I am now. :)

Though I'm glad he's gone. Maybe in the next 50 years or so, the Democrats will finally stop blaming all their woes on Bush. I won't hold my breath; it's likely there will still be a few die-hards blaming Bush even then.

Not even a little bit. Not even as the horribly easy target he was to poke fun at. The only credit I really give him is that his INITIAL actions after 9/11 were his shining moments as a president, and well done. However he very quickly got in over his head and burned up any and all capital that he had.

In what way was he "over his head?"

This is what I hate about people hating on Bush, I feel obligated to defend him from un-backed statements.

Weeee! This is too much fun. And if you assume I'm some Monty liberal, you're an ignorant jackass....anyway, in the spirit of the ultimately cynical now Corpsified Carlin, **** you. You all think you know the truth because any individual animal's ego must believe it knows the truth in order to survive in such a brutal jungle...but you don't...no wait, maybe you do...oh well no one knows - and that's the real truth. At least your monkey children offspring will perpetuate your lie as is programmed!

Wait, is this hellfire or heckfire?

OT: Not really.

Bush and Obama are more alike than people think. If Bush had the political capital that Obama has, he'd have behaved in a very like manner.

**blink blink**

I thought this was supposed to be the kinder, gentler forum?

No I do not miss him, and despise him as much as I despise Barry. That being said, I would like to see an obama supporter point to a tangible benifit of his style of Diplomacy. We have watched him bow, scrape, blow off allies and critisize his own country to those that mock it, and who hate it. I don't think I have seen a unclenching of fists, an opening of dialog, or a solution to problems.

Short version : same poo but with pretty happy sprinkles!

So.... should I respond to him then?

What's the protocol here? I thought this forum didn't get any slack, and now there's slack being shown.

I mean, he called me a jackass, ignorant, and indicated any children I'd have would be "monkey children." Mixing forums isn't an excuse unless it's an excuse for everybody, everytime they do it.

Why is it liberals never have to apologize when they throw out racial slurs that are offensive to black people, like "monkey children"?

Pretty sure the monkey children comment, as well as the rest of the post actually, was meant to be read in George Carlin style. If you know anything about George Carlin, you'd know he believed we all descended from monkeys themselves. You know, that whole evolution thing.

Too much reading-into going on here, I think.

See? Slythe's post can be nuanced. We can look for other meaning that might not be considered racist. What if Diamondeye happened to drop the word "fagspawn" in a post? Would we be considering other ways he might have meant it?

Yes, I realize this is a tangent. Slythe's comment had nothing to do with the color of anybody's skin. But it provoked the thought just the same.

How many ways can you intend fagspawn? Would Diamondeye have referenced a well-known person that had used the word previously?
